My favorite leather is tied with cordovan or english bridle. Cordovan lacks visible pores, which I prefer as an aesthetic. English cowhide can be extremely stiff, which I look for when searching strong leather.

I have a brown Schott NYC Perfecto delivery jacket with a sunset back made of Horween Steerhide. It’s a thick boy but I’ll tell ya: That thing would survive the apocalypse.

Thank you for this video as it is very informative. Would you be able to make a video on either elk or Caribou leather? I find that lather to be distinct and the pattern quite detailed

I need help. I have Dansko's and the calfskin (as they told me) under the cuff across the top of the shoes cracks and falls apart. What do you recommend to keep the calf leather from falling apart?

If it is already cracked you cannot fix it. I recommend a leather conditioner to prevent cracking. I suggest checking out my Tanner's Blend conditioner.

Phil, can you explain the ounce rating? How is the ounce weight calculated? Obviously it's a measurement of the weight, i get that, but is it the weight of a specific square inch measurement of the leather? I understand when someone says the leather is 2.5mm thick, i can visualize that, but when you talk about the ounces i cannot. Would like to better understand how that's determined? Hope this isn't a confusing question, having trouble articulating it!

@@AshlandLeather This was extremely helpful, I really appreciate you sending the link. It was cool to see the correlation between ounces and thickness, and I have a much better understanding now.
