Low-rise. I just switched from the 18th floor to the 2nd. Much better (and much easier to haul a dog and a toddler down the stairs when the fire alarm goes off because someone burned their dinner).
Hi Alex, I love your videos and searched for something similar (after binge watching yours... naturally), there is NOTHING like your channel on youtube!! Yet on TV property channels are so popular??! MORE PLEASE, LOTS MORE!!!
I’m curious if those types of buildings have common areas like lounges, gyms, etc. One thing I’ve gotten used to in my current place is concierge and a package room.
My stomping grounds!! Yeah atlas tower, especially the top floors have some crazy, stunning views ❤, and there are just loads of great cafés and places to chill.
Great apartment and tour once again Alex! The overlayed graphic on the "podium" was a nice touch. From what I've seen so far from your videos you would get my vote for supreme overlord.
I can't remember if I left you an enthusiastic comment on your Karuizawa property video but if not-- IT WAS SENSATIONAL. One of your best efforts yet. I really, really enjoyed not just the footage but the incredible amount of information you crammed into it, all delivered in your highly digestible style. Thank you, love your channel! 😊👍
Something about the renovations the previous tenant did to that penthouse, I am loving them! The rich earth tones, the subdued lighting coupled with large windows, the green spaces (which I would fill with real plants). Gorgeous!
The realty game is on point here! Makes me think about who Im buying real estate from. You really know your stuff! Looking forward to seeing more Alex!
Time to add Food to the Portfolio!(Shoku Portfolio anyone?) That aside, I felt that the property had a very...commercial feel to it? Aside from the exquisite kitchen and living room, the rest of the rooms feels pretty normal which makes the contrast painfully obvious. The view is killer though!
I am not Japanese, but in my fathers culture, we remove shoes before entering a home, not just for cleanliness, but a show of respect, love that you do this to the properties you show. Some great apartments you have been showing us here :)
Canadian. Shoes come off. We have a front hall or even just a little square space used for removing shoes. The idea this is weird is itself weird to me. Half the year they’re snowy, half the rest of the year they’re muddy. Who wants that inside?
Not everyone can wear those flimsy flat slippers (house slippers?) They don't have heel cushioning and they don't have arch support. If that was my place I would keep some cleaning wipes by the door so guests can wipe off the bottoms of their shoes.
I could never afford any of the homes in these videos, but the fact that I know that Banh mi place exists now means there's something I can actually buy being shown.
I always enjoy these videos. Truly. I'd like to see some variation in what you present though. My favorite videos so far have been the more unique places. All the high-end, luxury abodes are nice to fantasize about living in but rich people are all the same and after a while, these videos kinda feel the same because of their rich dullness. Either way, I appreciate your channel and content. Just a personal preference of mine.
I know I'll probably never make enough to afford any of these places. It's still giving me ideas for areas I would like to move to once I do finally get around to moving to Japan.
What a fantastic and unique apartment! Thank you for also including information about the surrounding area, it always gives these tours that personal touch.
The view is crazy, even when it's all cloudy, the vast distance you can see over Tokyo is still magnificent. The best part was the mushroom though, I hope it's part of the apartment haha
First luxurious apartment I could actually live in, that doesn't hurt the eyes. The only problem is the price - it should be 1/3 or the current listing. But hey, we are in Tokyo, it's what it is...
I understand that as a Japanese individual it's probably nice to have a view at Mt. Fuji but let me tell you this. I bought a 5 room, 1 living room, 1 guest toilet, 1 normal toilet with bath and shower, 1 garage apartment with 3 grocery stores in a walking distance for 130.100$ in Germany with the view at Polish/Czech mountains, quiet neighborhood and free electricity if we ignore the 2000$ yearly fee for the upkeeping of the solar panels and the central battery system which supplies the whole house and if needed, I can quickly book a very cheap electricity from the city with a click of the button in the smart home app (which costs me in winter/low electricity production months around 60-90$ per month depending on the use). It's not as premium as the penthouse in the video but you don't have to worry about loosing your job and not being able to pay the monthly rent. I also own a 4 room, 1 bathroom and 1 parking spot apartment in Frankfurt Main which was actually my first property that I ever purchased and basically I took a credit for that house, paid in total 94.400.80$ (4.300,80$ for the credit / rest for the apartment) and I paid it off after 5 months and now I'm renting it to a group of students which already brought me over 40.000$ in profit. In other words, if you are not as spoiled as 90% of the rich people are, it would be better to invest into apartments or houses, eventually rent them or keep them and then after 8-10 years just sell them with profit. I don't need to tell you that this might be a better idea than spending your money on crypto, crypto mining, NFT or buying stocks from some developing companies.
Nakameguro also has the finest American BBQ in Tokyo with Hato's Bar, and is also very beautiful during hanami due to the trees lining the river. How much are the banh mis?
9:15 I worked with my dad installing countertops for years and when we had to replace a top (unhooking the old sink/etc) the absolute WORST ones to work on were the ones with a garbage disposal. They always smell horrible because most people don't properly care for them and food just sits in them and rots. Hate then things.
The intro music sounded so familiar, and suddenly I realized, it is the same music Snake Discovery uses for its timelapses! Funny to see the same music on such different channels.
@@ludovica8221 not entirely true. Yes the standard library youtube provides is small but there are plenty of other places where you can get music. This one is not from the standard library. So in that wide range of music it's funny to suddenly recognize the same one on such different channels.
Oof that's a steep price. It's a nice apartment. The bathing room is neat, I love the sauna feature. Also nice that the toilets have their own rooms so you aren't barging in if someone wants to relax in the bath. I guess for the location it's worth it, but living room and kitchen didn't really vibe well to me.
You know, I have almost zero chance of ever living in Tokyo or even visiting Japan with my current life projection. But I just watch these vids to help bump the view count.
Having the visa to stay there long-term is going to be a pretty decently high hurdle. You won't be able to even rent if you can't show you can stay in the country for an extended amount of time. It's easier if you have plenty of money. They are allowed to discriminate against foreigners (there are reasons beyond simple racism - often citing language and worry that tenants will not have their visa renewed), and your ability to get a place is reduced simply because of that.
How strong does an earthquake/typhoon feel at that height? I was once in Tokyo at the robot hotel floor 14 during a strong typhoon and the room was shaking like a plane under heavy turbulences. Horrific experience.
drinking game idea: 2 shots for everytime he says 'you wont find this in japan' and 1 shot for everytime he says 'this is really rare to find in japan'
I viewed a 90-ish sqm unit on the 40th floor that was listed for sale for 230mm JPY. I believe the units below a certain floor are public UR housing units, so the rent on those should be very affordable, if they ever become available.
Hmmmm I am sure you could make it cosy, but on top of the insane amount of money per month. You would need to pump out a lot of serious money to make it feel like "home"
I am guessing that kitchen was never used as there seems no place for a fridge and all the cupboards would display your groceries to visitors and guests with those lighted pierced fronted cupboards.. hard to imagine your breakfast cereal and marmalade jar and bags of chips helping you look cool in there. It looks too much like an office space to imagine living there
Mt. Fuji is almost 3,800m high. If you're high enough up in Tokyo facing West and there's no buildings blocking you, then on a clear day you can see it.
$12,000/month for this place seems insane to me idk.. I know the location plays a role and that Japanese homes are much different to American homes but I feel like even in an expensive place like LA or New York you can have way more for that amount. Seems more of an office/work space than a home to me. The toilets are sick though I will give them that 😂
holyyyy shitttt - I thought NY was overpriced but this is genuinely another level. There's something about tokyo that's so depressing. Literally every building looks like a tiny US office building from the 80s
45 floors up -- that means a long elevator ride... Do you prefer high-rise penthouses or low-rise suites?
Neither. For me, nothing compares to a well designed Kyoto house.
I hate elevator rides, but nothing beats those views!
It sounds a bit weird when you say grandiose. I think you mean grand
When there is an earthquake (and its aftershocks), you definitely prefer a low-rise suite. Unless, of course, you love "the thrill of the swing".
Low-rise. I just switched from the 18th floor to the 2nd. Much better (and much easier to haul a dog and a toddler down the stairs when the fire alarm goes off because someone burned their dinner).
I love that you also show the neighborhood - it's really cool to see different parts of the city as well as the cool houses/apartments.
The neighborhood makes the property
Clown had to spend most of the time on the neighborhood because the actual apartment was so wildly UNDERWHELMING.

Now now, let’s not call names
@@patrickcrowley4682 I don't believe his name is "clown"
A little surprised by this one. Expected more contemporary updates and more natural light for the price point. The tour was interesting nonetheless!
You should do a video covering some of your favorite restaurants in Tokyo! I know there's a neighborhoods one but a food-focused video could be cool
Tokyo Portfolio of foods
Such a good idea.
I would love to see some food things in Japan.. Real estate is not doing much good.
