    Damn, the purulence side and especially Sinking Into Transparency show-lights the significant influence Steeve Hurdle would have had on Gorguts' Obscura.
    Rest in peace Big Steeve, you absolute legend in unorthodox death metal.

    Would never forget what you've given us.
    You are missed and you would be missed. But your legacy continues to live on with such awesomeness.
    Till then rest in peace, Steeve.

    I just realized the cover art is a depiction of a story in the Simarilion by Tolkien. The story where the elves are given the knowledge of how to forge rings of power. Sauron does this in the form of another being.

    • @ascended9173
      @ascended9173 5 лет назад +3

      The Elven realms flourished for over one thousand years until SA 1200 when Sauron, under the guise of a messenger from the Valar, appeared out of the East to offer knowledge to the elves. Gil-galad mistrusted him and barred him from his kingdom. Sauron then approached Celebrimbor and the Elves of Eregion, and against Gil-galad's advice they accepted him and his knowledge. With Annatar's help, Celebrimbor forged the Rings of Power..

    Caralho essa faixa é sensacional, lembra muito morbid angel mas ironicamente tem um peso muito mais mórbido, sujo e podre. Destaque pela variedade de riffs e ritmos da bateria pqp sensacional

    Such a shame that so many late 80s/early 90s recordings were so squished, scooped and overly compressed. This is a really good blend of Morbid Angel's Blessed are the Sick, Suffocation's Breeding the Spawn, and Gorguts' Erosion of Sanity, but with Steeve Hurdle's specific brand of abstract esotericism on top. Basically, it's like a bonus track off of Obscura or FWTH.

    Parts of this song even sound alot like the riffs that would go into From Wisdom To Hate....Amazing!

    Out of all the great musicians the metal scene has lost over the years, Steeve Hurdle might be the one that hurts the most. He still had a lot of creative energy left that will now remain untapped.
    RIP, big man :(

    Yeah, makes me wonder how much their later material was thought of by Steve. Doesn't sound quite as wonky/dissonant/WTF but it's not hard to hear where a lot of it would come from.
