As much as I love anime (and gay anime at that) Anastasia is the REAL reason most people clicked on this video. And you all know it. I like that in figure skating the athletes aren’t expected to have a smile plastered on their face throughout the whole performance, it feels more emotional when they’re not smiling creepily and dead behind the eyes lol
This was so beautiful! Especially the final part! Ohhh the pain! When i was 15 i realized that i was born to fly on ice. The bad part is that where i live there isnt't any ice or even ice rings, and I was already too old to learn it. It breaks my heart. Ah. But I keep dancing when i'm alone at home. I put on music like this or Tchaikovsky and just dance amd slide with my socks on. I know it's not the same, but it makes me so happy everytime i do it. Seriously i can't stay one day without floorsocking. I know the feeling i have when skiing, and if i close my eyes and remember that feeling while sliding on the woodfloor I can imagine very vividly what it would be like to skate on ice. Ah... what would be of us without imagination?
Isn't it just gorgeous! But I wouldn't give up on one day learning to skate - I don't think you're ever too old! I'm nearly 17, and hoping to start soon. And I know a woman who started at 40, and is now competing often!
Ayyy I slide around in socks too :D You know there is artistic roller skating right? You can roller skate anywhere as long as you have the right wheels
The reason that people do this is to show appreciation that skater completed not only required skill, but that she performed it flawlessly and that years of extremely hard work and dedication payed off and that she is able to apart of the top 1% of the figure skating world.
As a figure skater myself, I always like hearing the audience clap for me when I successfully perform a move (be it a spin or a jump), because even if I've performed it flawlessly a million times in practice, that's no guarantee that it'll still do go well on the day of the competition. The clapping is an acknowledgment that I did it well (or at least well enough to look good) and helps to give me encouragement and think positively about the next steps in the program.

I'm hear because I love this song, but I also love Evgenia. She has come so far, from being under that abusive coach of hers (fuck that coach tbh, she just breaks female Russian skaters, and it's heartbreaking to see) and being criticized for being "too dramatic" to breaking out of her shell and becoming the amazing skater she is today. It's really incredible to see. So many people have spoken badly of her, saying that she adds to much flair to her skates or is overdramatic with her facial expressions, but frankly, I believe her artistry is her biggest appeal. Too many people care more about other, younger skaters, such as those who kept comparing her to Alina throughout the 2018 Olympics, just because they can fit in more technical points into their routine, disregarding the fact that Evgenia will always be the best skater when it comes to the utter emotions and beauty she brings to the art. She will be an utter legend in figure skating history.
Honestly watching this makes my heart hurt because it's such a sad song and knowing the actual pain she was in destroying her health with that technique Eteri loves to break her girls with, it's just heartbreaking now that Evgenia can't turn left anymore 😔

It honestly isn’t as hard as it looks cool, but it’s still pretty difficult haha. I mean I can do it, I skate since I was 5 and learned that when I was like 11-12. Pretty tricky.

Can we talk about the amount of jumps in this? Like, I've watched the Olympcis and seen people only do 3-5 per routine, but there must be at least 7 or 8 in here!! I also can't believe she got silver in 2018. Not that a silver is bad by any means, but come on! This woman deserves a gold!!
@S K Huh. I'm not familiar with how scoring or any of it works, couldn't name any jumps, but I do know there are requirements each program. I guess for some reason I've never noticed the amount of jumps they do in each program.😂
I'd like to see this side by side with a ballet dancer to the same music. Really I just want to see ballet and figure skating together, I'll take any music.
Evgenia will always be that one female skater that moved me to tears, we all know she has some deficiencies in technique, but this sport for me is an art form, she emotes like no other, something that sadly is seen less and less now.

Generally from a visual standpoint her jumps look great but technically they need work, especially on her axel and flutz. I still love her though
