    I LOVE how Yuna doesn't take ANY element for granted. She goes into each and every jump with such precision, focus and class. I feel like many skaters take the jumps for granted now doing lutzes and flips like they're nothing and yet they pre-rotate them like loop jumps and get scored as a lutz/flip. All the new skaters do is jump and jump and jump. It's like there's a lost art behind modern figure skating from Yuna's generation. She is just magical. Mind you she comes from a country with no roots in the sport, no facilities, no coaching, and initially no interest in funding her trips to gran prix's and the like. She still managed to win. These days it's just jumping and bought scores from corrupt judges. There may well never be another on Yuna's level. Thank the good Lord for this recording in HD.

I love Evgenia but she like all of Eteri’s girls was known to pre rotate her jumps and not have nearly the precise technique or fluidity of Yuna Kim. Nagasu is a great skater but it feels weird to know that an Asian is representing the USA. The US is selling itself to Asians and immigrants in general... Any Asian who show up with a little bit of money steal the place that should be given to an American child. African americans are discriminated American coaches will find scholarships for white Asian kids over an African American child. It is a fact. They make unaffordable for black kids to do any kind of sports. Somehow all this Asians are coming here and surprisingly getting a free ride to do the sports they want. BS

    • @ghso7
      @ghso7 6 лет назад +44

      Okay woah woah woah. I know that African Americans are discriminated against, but the thing is... the Asian people are not just Asian either. They are Asian American. If you categorize them, they are all Americans. I do not see why you are blaming Asian Americans for getting a free ride, but if they have talent that is what the coaches want to take. Obviously. There must not be an African American person that has caught someone's eye yet. You don't need to be all mad and push the blame onto Asian Americans. It is completely unnecessary to the conversation. The person just wanted to say how graceful a KOREAN skater was and you start blaming Asian Americans for taking places in sports. What is wrong with you?

    • @infinitedork24
      @infinitedork24 6 лет назад +10

      it's not a free ride. IIRC i saw an interview with mirai nagasu talking about how hard her parents had to work to allow her to skate. Let's not make this a race issue - each of these athletes worked their asses off to get where they are, regardless of race. It could simply be that ice skating is not as popular a sport within the african american community as other sports.

    • @BNAU
      @BNAU 7 лет назад +53

      Did you watch the professional analyst video regarding the scoring? Altogether Adelina got 26 extra marks when they should've been taken away for her multiple double foot landings, wrong edge jumps and the triple lutz triple toes which ended up just being triple flips due to the fact she pre-rotated, used the wrong edge, used the wrong foot, and didn't use her toes but the entire blade. Just for that ONE combination mistake she should have been penalized over 4 marks but instead she got the maximum. Subjective sports is one thing, not being able to correct BLATANT miscounting is another.

    People might beat her technically now or in the future. But ice skating is more than technique. Yuna has a grace, and elegance that is hard to come by. She made it look effortless. I believe she is a once in a lifetime skater. I haven't seen another that has all the characteristics that she possesses on the ice. All while remaining humble. Not many like her.

      Spot on! Even technically speaking, to this day nobody pulls off a triple lutz-triple toe like she does. I would argue that the actual quality of the jumps have stagnated or decreased since then: plenty of underrotation, pre-rotation, and wrong edge. Ladies skaters these days just seem better cuz of the score inflation trend overlooking many of these flaws.

    Let’s not forget her gracefulness comes from complete mastery of the techniques. Textbook jumps, control of edges, speed and power in skating, beautiful body movement…. This is what figure skating is about. Having said that, I think her Sochi programs are underrated because of the scandal. Miss her!

      Excuse me...but that's insulting. The new figure skaters can't even jump quads. They attempt quads, cheat on the technique, fall half the time, and still win for just trying >_<
      Only skater I've seen that can jump proper, textbook quads consistently well is men's Nathan Chen.

      @@divinearia1601 I agree with you. every time I watch the men's short program of the Pyeonchang 2018 Olympics I can't explain how amazing and talented they are. I feel bad for all those people who stopped watching the Olympics because their little princess didn't win in her second Olympic appearance. I really like Yuna but I think Mao Asada had to win in the 2010 and 2014 Olympic Games. Mao had programs with higher technical quality than Yuna and Adelina.

    We all know, no one can ever replace or take her throne. There's a lot of people comparing Yuna and some other skaters from this generation. Yuna already told the media that there's no point of comparing her and other skaters who are competing in Pyeongchang since she is from a different generation. Her PCS was always so low, her scores were underscored, she was destined to suffer because of the careless Korean national skating union and other greedy countries. But the queen managed to become the legend, the idol for everyone in the world and stood up for her country who wasn't even supporting her when it was difficult for her. Now there's skaters getting 80s in short and over 150 in free. There's people saying Yuna would've lost if she competed in Pyeongchang. Though everyone knows that she is a great skater who comes out once in a century. We might not be able to meet someone like her before we die. I miss you so much, and I hope you can rest well after the 2018 Olympics. You did well. You did so much for the nation even after retiring.😊💞
