Graphics are never the golden goose in Team Ninja games but their games are dopamine-packed, non-stop action and they produce games almost every year or two
I dont know man.. lately their games have kinda taken a dip in quality combat wise. Wolongs combat was really mash-heavy and fairly bland imo. Hopefully Ronin will give us an equivalent of the stance system in Nioh and some different combos buttons besides a single mash attack.
After reading that, I feel like that might be part of what makes Ghost of Tsushima so great. Just fighting regular humans instead of demons or zombies, etc. One of my favorite aspects of it was the duels with all the master swordsmen. 🤌
From what I hear, looks like this is going to take place around the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate, where Japan's having all sorts of things and is about to open its borders. Really excited to see this!
@@changotv5847 Their "opening borders" did not mean like western countries do today. It was a necessity and were partialy forced into it but overall it was a step that had to be done.
This is not the same type of game as Ghost of Tsushima. Only the setting is similar, but the combat and atmosphere will probably be as different as night and day.

@@BillGunslinger personally i see TN games as being more "Nioh-like" than "Souls-like". like, their DNA is certainly soulsian, but when you compare a game like Strangers of Paradise to Dark Souls, you notice it has way more Nioh _specific_ DNA than not. in other words: they've created their own little sub-subgenre niche.
very different game. Ghost may have set a bar for _assassin's creed_ type games, but when it comes to combat heavy souls games i'm certain this will blow it out of the water.
Finally, I’ve been waiting for a release date for this gem. I love this era with guns involved! Super excited! This’ll keep me busy from waiting for Ghost Of Tsushima 2.
Rise of the Ronin reminds me of Ghost of Tsushima but I am glad it has similar gameplay elements, and this time 19th century Japan during the late Edo/Tokugawa period! Looking forward to playing the game in March 22, 2024!
Which similar gameplay elements, the fact you can walk? I saw a man using grappling hooks, guns and what looked like supernatural abilities. he was even flying on a glider. Ghost of tsushima had none of these it was way more grounded
They can take all the time they need. Polished beats rushed EVERY TIME. Best recent example is Cyberpunk 2077. Look at how long it took them to polish that game. If they had waited another 6 months or so for the release, it would've been WAY more polished.@@zzirfamo24
Seems to be shaping to be Team Ninja's most ambitious and most promising game yet. If they ever decide to revive Ninja Gaiden again, I can totally see it taking a lot of inspiration from this.

So far it looks like it isn't going to take Nioh or Wo-Longs Yokai/monster fights. Hopefully it remains that way. At most maybe one or two post game style super fights.
This really reminds me of Ghost of Tsushima, onimusha and batman Arkham all in one game and yes I am interested in pre ordering Rise of the Ronin, this game looks sick hands down

We play because being in a tough fight after struggling and finally winning gives a great sense of accomplishment. You should give them a chance again or at all, but only if you're willing to take your time, they're definitely not as immediately accessible as Ghost of Tsushima.

Ronin is looking solid! Or as I like to call it, Like Assass-Ishin's Ghost of Sekiro: Nioh Lives Thrice. I hope it delivers! We have Tsushima set during the 13th century Mongol Invasions, although the armour sets were based on the 16th and 17th century Sengoku periods, due to familiarity, AC "Red" most likely set during the actual Sengoku period of Nobunaga's reign, due to the presence of Yasuke, and now Ronin, set during the 19th century Tokugawa Shogunate/Edo period, more specifically Bakumatsu warring period.

I don't think that people who expect a Ghost of Tsushima clone will be happy with what Team Ninja will produce. My hot take is that it's basically Nioh 3 with just a tiny bit of Ghost of Tsushima.
I'm really hoping for a massive attention to detail regarding sword customization. I think Way of the Samurai 2 did wonderful with their sword customization all those years ago on the PS2, and I have yet to find a game that epitomizes "the soul of a sword" quite like that game. I want Stats like attack, defense, durability, and I want an EXP meter of sorts so that you eventually become "one with the sword" after unlocking its hidden techniques. WotS2 even had an RNG stat-rolling mechanism that allowed you to min/max the weapon. Give me that in a samurai time period game, and I will squeal with joy.
They weren’t advertising it because Team Ninja wanted Wo Long to get attention. But Wo Long’s final dlc is coming out in a few days so all their marketing can be focused on RotR now
For a really long time we only have Onimusha and Ninja Gaiden as game set in historical Japan. Now suddenly we have 6 games all set in historical Japan: Sekiro, Nioh 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Like a Dragon Ishin, Rise of Ronin, and Assassin Creed Red. WOW!!!

In the historical timeline that this game is set in, it is post-Ghost of Tsushima era, but it is still set in Japan, which makes it an interesting addition into the Japanese Ninja genre. This looks like it plays up the fantasy and legend of samurai more so than Ghost of Tsushima did (which was, itself, heavy into the mythical samurai). That doesn’t turn me off at all. This looks pretty awesome.
Any game that involves ninjas, samurais, sword fighting, an open world, violence and pure action gameplay is a badass game to me!

Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 where high graphics for their time. Since the Dev of Ninja Gaiden left, they became pretty weak and keep copying other.
I like the graphic quality of Nioh and Wo Long much better than many games that don't get this kind of criticism

This looks like it plays up the fantasy and legend of samurai more so than Ghost of Tsushima did (which was, itself, heavy into the mythical samurai).
That doesn’t turn me off at all. This looks pretty awesome.
Love Ghost of Tsushima but I’m getting Way of the Samurai vibes with this gameplay. Very much looking forward to playing this
