Now, the way I understand the way this thing works is; you could totally take the bass/acous/guit / drum tracks you have, and BOUNCE them to One single track, thus opening up 7 other tracks for ambient sounds, leads, vocals, etc
Thx for tute man, doin homework because inorder one if these to some simple stuff to enhance some photo and video stuff I'm working on, Good job , cheers!
Great tutorial. I'm working with the looping now and it will play indefinitely all the parts you need over and over. How do you cut the loop off at where you want it to end, so you can put in other sections? Verse chorus, etc. Thanks if you can help, I'm stuck! :)
By using the 'track sequencer. If you are using track 1 and 2 for verse and chorus and you would like to have 'verse verse chorus verse' you will need to tap the white keys below the faders 'kixk kick snare kick'. Press STOP and then press EXIT twice. On main project screen press soft button for TRK SEQ. It will show TRK SEQ ON. This is required in order to play back a sequence. Augment the faders on track 1 and 2 so you can hear them. Press PLAY. You'll now hear the verse verse chorus verse being played.
@@marksystemed4678 thanks I have it down now. Another question if you might know. Can you record in different sections of one track - I find when I do this I lose what I already recorded, and I can only have the choice of recording on one track all the way through which is not always easy. Thanks for getting back.
@@fishnmusicn Hi. I don't really know about that. I only got mine a couple of weeks ago and haven't really used it since I preferred to wait for the 'The Better Zoom R8 Manual' by Rich Menga. There is quite a lot of helpful information in there.
@@marksystemed4678 I'm sorry got you confused with the guy in the video. I have that manual and it's great, easy to understand. I've got the looping and track sequencing down, but don't know why you can't record different parts at different points on one track without losing all you did. Anyway thanks for the help and you're going to enjoy using it :)
@@fishnmusicn I will try and figure it out once I get home. I know some of the basics since I had the R16. If I find out how to do it I will inform you.
Great video .Do you know how do you get the mastering done and make the vocals smooth. I am using a condenser mic for my acoustic in input 1 and another condenser mic in input 2 for my daughters vocal at the same time and the sound is weak during playback . I have an R8 and the instructions are complicated. Not sure how to master , add softness, effect , etc and mix down to get the great sound like I am hearing from everyone on RUclips. Looking to do a few tracks per recordings. Thanks for any help and I really appreciate it.
Yeah I did realize that but didn't have a way at the time to do that. Been wanting to revisit and update it. And yeah I used the internal drums for that track.
So can this be used as a simple 8 track looper? If so, how long can the loops be and is the looping tight? Is it tied certain bar lengths are can you make your own custom looping points? Thanks man.
Can you demo the metronome function ? I hear there's a misleading feature on the metronome dial. When you move the button to "phones only" , ONLY the metronome can be heard. BUT, the Balance dial implies that you can mix music in with your click track. From what I was told, you CANNOT mix music with click while the metronome is in "phones only" mode. This seems kind of stupid because you'll have to waste a track to record your metronome. Is this true ? Example: The Digitech Jamman Stereo has a Loop level dial & Rhythm(click) level dial. Rumor has it that the Zoom R8 can't do this. Is this true?
Well, I got an in-depth reply from another dude who owns an R8. He said even with the metronome in "phones only" mode, music and metronome can be blended together or separated by turning the dial left or right. A huge relief for me. Now I'm going to purchase one. Thanks for the reply though.
Ok good. After taking a quick look at it thats about the same conclusion i came to but wanted to check for myself but now with the info you gave me I don't have to worry about it. Thanks!
Nice song man

Thanks for this man! Definitely seems like one of the better multi-trackers for looping capabilities
Great tutorial ! Great song !

Had to to my homework on this too before I got it. Never heard of Zoom before and I'm glad I bought it.
Nice demo
Sweet riff. And nice machine.

Joe Ryan no man I don't. Vocals are like Greek to me to get them to sound right. I'm just learning as I go basically.
Overhead cam with close up on what controls you're using would be real useful. Good sound though. Did you use the on board drums on the R8?

Yes as far as I know it will keep looping indefinitely. You will have to adjust the bars to your desired length but it's easy to do.

Bass is a much maligned instrument...
Agreed. The bass gets far less credit than it deserves.
