I really appreciate the explanation. I haven’t found a video like this. That was very very helpful. The recording doesn’t say much but at the end when everything was consolidated sounds professional. Good job…🎉
Thanks Rusty for a great show - I just got my R8 from Sweetwater on Monday - I used a Portastudio cassette years ago until it crashed & bought a Korg D-12 but the manual might as well be in chinese...I think the D-12 is probably a good machine but I don't want to have to go through so much hassle everytime I get an urge to record - in fact, I believe getting to know this ZOOM R8 is going to introduce me to the Korg - there are many tutorials & videos about the R8 and I can't find much at all about the Korg & Korg USA doesn't care if it works - so again, thank you for a splendid tutorial ~
I bought one of these a few years ago and have been intimidated by it. This video is like a 400 level class. I need to see some level 100 and 200 level classes long before this one. My old eyes can't see what you're pushing and what you're looking at.

Dude! Can you help me????? So I recorded drum tracks on 2, 3, 4 and 5 right? 6 and 7 were guitar. So I bounced them to 8. Now I can't get the amber light to turn off on 2,3,4 and 5 so I can re record on them! I'm at a loss bro!!! What do I do???? Thanks for your vids man!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘 They've been an AWESOME help!!!!!!
Just standard guitar cable. Into the back, 1st input. Volume nob on back of unit for headphones Volume. In a new project, make sure track 1 is on with red light. Make sure to raise track 1 Volume slider and master Volume slider.
Great tutorial.just a question tho.am i safe to put pedals(boss dual overdrive)and(boss acoustic simulator)straight into input 1? I cant find the user manual.cheers👍🏻
Just bought this machine. What I’m hoping to do is find backing tracks and record myself playing them. Would I be able to import a backing track into this and record myself playing? I am brand new to recording and have no experience on how to run a machine like this. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
On the R24, the drum patterns are automatically asigned to a stereo pair(maybe by default I guess). Is it different for the R8. Can the built in drums be in stereo?
I'm honestly not to sure. I have not done to much with built in mic or trying to record multiple instruments at once. try just laying down the guitar track then have your way with the vocals separate.
Nice tutorial and cool songs... I'm having hard time; I tried recording two tracks simultaneously, A drum machine / bass sound on one line, And me playing along with guitar on another track , and wouldn't playback at all. Then I tried setting up a drum beat via machine and playing along, but only the drums would play back... Don't know what I'm doing wrong, I've watched literally every tutorial out here on this thing

I’m just using a standard guitar cable and I can’t hear anything, what kind of input thing are you using to connect and record the guitar..?

@@RustyWeaveStudios Thanks for letting me know!
@poiuytreza I roughly tested if a while ago and had no luck.
Is it possible to just record the drum machine playing them like a real drum set playing along with tracks I already recorded
Not that I know of. If you got a external drum machine than yes. I had long ago a boss drum machine.
@@RustyWeaveStudios thanks for the reply.Do you know if a drum machine can be plugged in and work with the Zoom R8? And TIA !

In stereo. Cant control the drum stereo tho
When I’m recording vocals and acoustic guitar at same time how do I get effects on both inputs simultaneously?.
I'm honestly not to sure. I have not done to much with built in mic or trying to record multiple instruments at once. try just laying down the guitar track then have your way with the vocals separate.
i think if you go under effects > stereo, they have a couple presets designed for precisely that
Can you save the files (tracks) individually so you can work on them more with a DAW?
I think so. No experience using daw unfortunately.
They automatically save as wavs in individual folders so you can import into daw
YES !
Do you know to un-assign a drum track? Can’t seem to find info on how to do so. Thanks
Track button then the drum track then file right where cursor ends up hit enter then new.
