The Door’s publicist Danny Sugarman wrote in his book, that Pam Courson told him years later that Jim OD’d on her heroin. She had a secret habit and hid it from him as he didn’t approve of heroin. He found her stash of China White smack and thought it was cocaine-as they look identical. So he cut himself a few fat lines and died of an accidental over-dose. He either took a bath before dying as he wasn’t feeling well, or his body was moved into the tub to revive him. Which stands to reason, as that’s how you revive most addicts-submerge their body in cold water to ‘shock’ them back to life. This is the most plausible version of events and I believe them to be true.
As for Pam, she dove even deeper into her habit after his death, as she carried the guilt of ‘killing him’ (as she put it) and eventually succumbed to an overdose of heroin herself.
That's the most reasonable explanation Ive heard.
Only problem I have with that is she'd never of been able to carry his body weight into the bath, especially through those tiny rooms/hallways. He may have been half overdosing and she helped him into the bath, or maybe she got help from her dealer, the one she "allegedly" phoned first & who told her to flush the gear 🤷♂️

That is not the actual bathtub. That French documentary was from 2006,I believe. The ACTUAL bathtub was purchased from the owner's of the apartment after it was sold to new owners in 1974 and underwent a light cosmetic renovation. The genuine,original bathtub that the rock star passed away in,now resides in Sydney,Australia with a little known,but prominent rock memorabilia collector.I know the owner and I have laid inside the tub.
What happened when you laid inside the tub? Did you break on through to the other side?

He did not die in his apartment. Died in women's restroom of Rock n Roll Circus Paris, France July 3 , 1971. Carried back to his apartment and put in the hot tub to disguise the time of death. This was to protect their clientel and Rock n Roll Circus 🖤 🇫🇷 🇺🇸

On the documentary "The Last 24 Hours of Jim Morrison", it appeared to be a studio apartment with the bath tub close to the center of it. How misleading! Thanks for posting this video!
The Doors movie, which we all know by now is quite skewed, shows Jim dead in a stand-alone clawfoot bathtub which is much more romantic than a normal old bathtub like the one in my own home...

This guy was a paramedic who tried to reanimate Jim. He explains how they find Jim and explain what Pam was saying to them. It is this house they were living but we all know that he died from snorting 90% pure heroin who was coming from Marseille (french connection) in the Rock'n'roll circus Jim's favorite club in Paris. Normal heroin that time was between 10 and 30% pure and Jim was a beginner at snorting heroin, with or without alcohol he would have died anyway.. what pisses me off is that there was only 5 people at his funerals, the famous film director from France Agnès Varda, Pam, Jim's french Friend Alain, the british disc promoter and another Jim's US Friend i think.. the funerals take less than 10min with Pam reading a poheme.. Sad
Sad and very strange. They all claim they didnt want a highly publicized funeral or a circus like at Jimi Hendrix and Janis. But to not tell atleast the Doors band members and Jim' s family was highly disrespectful.

T T Heroin overdose = ice cold bath water immersion. Only problem with this theory is that the bath water was lukewarm (86 degrees F) when his body was found. Pam must’ve ran hot water before police arrived to avoid suspicion.
I hold it as True - his girlfriend Pam had been a heroin addict and Jim used what he believed to be cocaine ( but it could have just as well been cocaine, with the fragile state of his health at the time ) Pam kept a shady entourage even in Paris, that was more her network than Jim's - his was back in the States. As far as I'm concerned she was his weakness, but Jim was a poet and most likely an empath and he worried for her a lot ( I think he said as much ) He could have mistaken this for Love, because she liked the faithful , strong values, poet side of him, not the Rock star side that we also know and love - the side that made him love dozens of women other than her. He was kinda like Ian Curtis of Joy Division : he had a lot of guilt mixed with his loving.

there were rumors jim was at a night club and was found dead slumped on the toilet. he was then moved to his home and put in the bathtub. no one will ever know.
Marianne Faithfull's boyfriend was Count Jean de Breteuil. The Count was there that night while Marianne stayed in a hotel. Pam also dated him before Jim came to Paris. He was a mega heroin dealer and he came from a wealthy newspaper family. I believe Alan Ronay is alive but I dont believe his story. Marianne Faithfull said it was the Count's china white heroin that killed Jim by accident.
Two more people done in by heroin that could have had long lives. So sad.

You're all wrong. Morrison came back to the apartment drunk and found some powder laid out in lines on the dresser. Thinking it was cocaine, he snorted a few lines. It ended up being heroin and he OD'D. Pamela put Him in the bathtub to try and revive him but it didn't work. This description of what happened came from Paul Rothschild, The Doors manager.

@@Thirdfish There have been so many stories that no one knows what is true anymore. Pam kept changing her stories too, so no one can know for sure. I think him dying at home is more plausible than people carrying a dead body through the streets and stairwells and somehow not being seen or heard. Whether he died in the tub or elsewhere in the apartment and was moved to the tub is another story. Marianne Faithfull talks about a French dealer who provided the heroin freaking out and going to the apartment after Pam called him and said Jim locked himself in the bathroom and was dead. A friend of Morrison's, Alain Ronay, was also there to "assist with the body" and backs up this account, the dealer later confessed to Marianne and another friend that he was in the apartment and that he was there to help Pam and felt he might be charged with a crime because of his involvement in being a dealer so he was on the run. His name was Count Jean de Breteuil. It is thought his stash is what also killed Janis Joplin.

I DON’T believe Pam’s story for half a second-
He just wanted to breathe under water 'til the end. Unfortunately he had to be breathing to accomplish that (his death can be blamed on Pamela and her China White heroin). He probably thought it was cocaine. I walked from Pere La Chaisse past the Bastille to 17 rue Beautreillis on my way to Notre Dame. I was struck by how many people were at the cemetery looking for his grave site. His words in song impacted millions of listeners world-wide.
I'd been in and out of Paris some 30 times in my life before I wrote "Some Are Born to Endless Night," and had no interest in seeing his grave because I was angry at how he abused himself at the end of his career and became a drunken fool the last two years of his life. At least until 2009 when I finally was rather heavily involved with the writing of the book. I knew how fascinated he was with French culture (just as I had been in the early days) and architecture and the lives of artists and writers who were at the scene in Paris at the Montmarte area of Paris in 1905 before their general movement to Monparnasse scene where Jim was enthralled by the large open-air market place near this huge train station complex located perhaps two miles from the Eiffel Tower. I used to walk there from Monparnasse and went to that market many times.

@@TT-rz5td Apparently the medical examiners report stated that the Dr. who examined his body in the room shortly after his death remarked that he couldn't believe he was looking at a 27 year old man and was guessing Jim to be in his late 40's / early 50's. Maybe that is what they are referencing.

It bothered me, the Hollywood version trying to glamorize his death with the fancy bathroom and beautiful lighting, when in reality it was just a tiny room with the same old standard cramped tub that the rest of the world bathes in. That tub looks newer than 71. Also there's a piece of tile from the apt stairway on eBay because the stairway up to the apt needed to be redone in 2018. It was colored tile mixed with terra-cotta deep orange tiles. I don't see that staircase here.
I think its probably the actual apartment, but 1971 was a long time ago, I have little doubt its likely been remodeled since then and most of the old fixtures ''including the tub'' have been removed and replaced.

To anyone who seen the documentary and heard the audio. Is this the exact tub or has it been replaced? If i lived there i would not use use or replace the tub. Well perhaps id take an occasional bath but it would be a bit morbid and weird.

WeGot BakingSoda That one doesn't make sense to me. It's pretty well established that where ever he died, his girlfriend Pam found him unconscious in the bathtub of their Paris flat. Weather his corpse was brought back to the Paris apartment from the Rock and Roll circus, or he died in the tub, there's no telling.
Also, from the biography's I've read, I don't think Jim was anywhere near being suicidal. This trip to Paris was suppose to be his turning around point to get away from being a rock star and focus on writing poetry. It's pretty well documented that he was in high spirits and looking forward to the future at the time of his death.
I'm not saying you're wrong. You're no more right or wrong than I am...But it's unlikely that we will ever truly know what happened in Paris that night. Anyone directly connected to it is pretty much dead now. I think in a weird morbid sense, this is Jim's final legacy. When he left this world, he left an unsolved mystery for his fans to forever contemplate.
I was there that bleak night in early July, so far away and long ago, yet I remember it clearly...and so once upon a midnight dreary as he lay ripped off a 5th of Jack Daniels and China White, weak and weary, this poison would be his plight. He passed out in the stall and died nearly, yet not completely. He was whisked back to 17 rue beautirils and awoke sober unto his misery. It was then that Pamela said try this heroin and lay to rest your curiosity to unveil this cloaked mystery. At this point, he put the straw to his nose, inhaled got sick and took a bath.....and the rest is history, RIP
