My dear Son died recently. I don't think there will be joy in my life anymore. He was my dearest friend also. I miss him unbearably.
Your helping a lot of people with your counsel. Your grandfather would be proud dear man.

After losing my mother and my husband last year within two months grief became a very personal Journey for me. This blog is very helpful and right on however one element of grief that is not talked about very much is anxiety. I I'm not a person prone to depression however anxiety has been an ongoing battle for me and this profound loss turned my world upside down. Anxiety has been the greatest issue in my grief. I wish that grief counselors would address this more.

I'm so sorry I know how it feels to be lonely without the person you loved, we've all lost our love ones in death one way or the other, either a spouse, child, family members, or a true friend that meant the world to us, such is life I understand how you feel but life goes on because death is inevitable and we'll all have to face it someday, I lost my wife 3yrs ago to a cardiovascular disease, I felt deeply devastated with grief, but that's the past now, time is indeed the best healer.

Thank you so much for this information. Grief has been difficult for me in the last 3 years, after a cancer diagnosis. I think I am in that group who thinks that they need to wait, and suffer before doing things about it. Huh, not good. I just broke my elbow, and I went that day for help! I have a habit of pushing my emotions down, because I grew up in a family that always fought or told me to "pull myself up by my bootstraps". Wow, there is so much to grief. I listened to a grief series recently, and learned how much grief I was carrying. I even learned grief yoga, and gave myself the opportunity to cry. Now, I think I need to do my journaling at the time I have grief thoughts. This will be very helpful for me. Thanks again.

Dr. Amen, thank you SO much for this. Nobody wants to talk about grief. I lost the only 2 people who meant the world to me within a few months of each other. I have been heart-broken for 5 1/2 years and 3 of my doctors said I had depression, but did not help me. Then after 5 years of floundering misery, my health began to fail. I found a grief support group, educated myself on health issues, and am trying to turn my life around. I'd like to find a psychiatrist like you, who is not quick to put everyone on drugs, but I don't know if I need one who specializes in grief, depression, or ADD, or if it even matters.

Thank you so much for this! My x-husband died 1 month ago today from the virus. I’ve had a lovely expression of grief. As you went through the stages of grief, it reminds me of some people who keep going through the cycle repeatedly whether from ptsd or another trauma.

Don't try to take away my grief. It's a lot of what I have left of my poor Son. Do you honestly think he'd not want me or anyone to grieve for him? How about your grandfather? Would he not have wanted anyone to care? !! WHAT AN OUTRAGEOUS IDEA!!
