1 thing that is not being mentioned are the 20 or so people standing 1-2 FEET from the hole where someone is being dug out. THAT is A lot of weight right on the edge of the hole that is ain't pressure on the dirt IN the hole. I'm an emergency situation, everyone except a small crew of 3-4 need to back up more than 3 feet from what is going on. There is no reason to have 30 faces over a hole when 3-4 are better.
AMEN!!! Thank you Father, for the success we see in this situation. Keep EVERYONE safe. The victim. The rescuers. AND all those helicopters flying around each other. THANK YOU JESUS FOR KEEPING THEM ALL SAFE!!
How many times does this happen? Too many. If a trench is deeper than 4ft. YOU NEED SUPPORT IN IT. Too many people have lost their lives because of stupid thinking
NONE of this would be happening, if they followed the RULES, trying to save a buck leads to this. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has several regulations for trench boxes, including:
Trench box extension: Trench boxes must extend 18 inches above the surface to prevent cave-ins.
Excavation depth: Excavations should not be made more than 24 inches below the bottom of the trench box.
Means of egress: A ladder or other means of egress must be available every 25 feet. The ladder must be secured and extend 3 feet above the trench's surface.
Trench box design: For trenches deeper than 20 feet, a registered professional engineer (RPE) must design the system. The design must include the type, size, and configuration of the boxes to be used.
Trench box installation: Shields must be installed to prevent hazardous lateral movement.
You’d think they’d have those portable sunshades and chairs to keep the sun off the guys who are standing around waiting their turn. Hopefully that homeowner bought a builders risk insurance policy for the duration of that pool install. Anything over 4ft has to have an engineered shoring installation.
Not necessarily shoring, IF there is enough room to use "benching". But also, shoring/benching/trench box is determined by soil type, condition, and compaction. I use to do water and sewer main construction and was in the trench A LOT. 6 foot of packed clay in a 4 foot wide excavation doesn't need the same safety measures as you need for loose, uncompacted dry soil. I would feel safer in the clay trench vs dirt
I live in Ireland it looks good for him now he employs 200 people where I live in doonbeg he owns golf course they would have no jobs and our village would be no more

In situations like this, Stu, your analysis is reassuring. Thanks, Stu.
Praying for his rescue to be successful very soon!🙏🏻 Thank you to hard working crew!!!

@@808ghostMiller You think this hurts me emotionally? You’re good.
You cant pull him off his pants, because he’s wearing work boots and they are usually tied all the way to the top, therefore it wouldn’t work.
Stu is THE BEST AT WHAT HE DOES ❤❤❤
Do an extensive story on the USAR, it extremely fascinating and the equipment they carry. I was on a USAR team back east. Awesome work
Wonder what the contractor plans to do with all the money he saved by not getting trench plates and shoring?
there was an earthquake this morning also
OSHA will bankrupt him by Monday
hope the mans family sues the shit out of them period
That vacuum truck driver's next assignment -- Drainage cleanout in DTLA. In other words, this was the high point in his year.
Is it true that nobody slacks like a San Diego Slacker?
How many firemen does it take to change a light bulb lol. That's a lot of firefighters

You should see the dangers of boring holes underground for sewer lines
It’s probably his boots that’s holding him down.
Watching from England. Looks hot there. Really hope for a good outcome soon. X
PS . Someone’s in for a huge bill when this is over .
Taxpayers
Did he get rescued yet?
d
He's not that far down. He'll be ok.
They are probably dealing with the metal rebar.
Did they get him out? Can't find a live feed anywhere
Does it take 30 men standing around to rescue someone that 2-4 rescuers can do?
44:00 1500 ft is way more than a 15 story building
LOL, so you caught that. I was like "hell is stu talking about" when I heard that.

Yup!
The next visit to the work site will bring OSHA. Fines a coming. Glad the Guy is OK.
What happened? Why not show completion of this rescue. I need to stop watching your streams.
This is frustrating
Poor guy.😢
I hope his wife hugged him when he got out.
He about to be a rich guy.

can hear you, cant see you...there, its good now..
They might to give him some water.
Contractor and homeowner going to meet Mr. OSHA real soon.
With all of those firemen there, they could’ve dug a hole 10x10 feet quicker than the way they are doing it
Circle K has coffee!
Without a fire, why do they have to keep those heavy HOT jackets on??
Newmatic!!
Pnuematic*
Really. 30 rescuers and 25 of them standing around doing nothing. Well spent tax dollars.
Did they get him out?
@o.c.bobbie5538 yes after nearly 7 hours
3 things guaranteed in life. Death, taxes, helicopter video transmission issues
And donald trump being next leader
