The fact and the matter that Muslim say this is because they found this religious unquestionable. And they found the answers for that from Quran. But actually in Quran many times it has been stated that even people from other relegions and other faculties of thinking are welcome to talk criticize and question. Even Ibrahim once asked from god how could you bring back all people with the same quality that they have right now in the eart? He was just curious to know. God punished him? No. He asked Ibrahim to do sth and then proved him. So, questioning in Islam is not prohibited. You never see a verse in Quran saying Do/tell and then Listen. In most verses and hadises the order is to first Listen and then Do/tell/ or act or whatever. So, since you have the power to choose and god gave you the power to do so, which is the first thing that distignuishes human beings from other creatures, then the essential thing in Islam is questioning and thinking. We have a hadis from Muhammed saying one hour of thinking is better than seventy years of praying. Also I think media especially in US are bringing people who does not have the resolution to answer the questions in the right manner and with the right words. If that was the case we have had many pple transformed into Islam. So, Islam is not pictured as it is. God bless you

Religion seems to be one of the few places where we get offended in this way. If he's criticizing it "more harshly" than other religious that doesn't take anything away from the fact that Islam indeed needs to be criticized.
However, as I said, I do believe Islam is worse. This idea that Christianity, Mormonism, Scientology, and Islam (and any other religion you can think of) are EXACTLY the same in terms of potential danger is ridiculous.

In fact the act of removing Islam as the state religion was an act of fitnah, publishable by death in Surah 2 passages 191 and 193 of the Quran (2:191-193).
And to answer your question I'm not Christian. I have similar issues with the Bible as I do with the Quran and the Torah. As you know the Old Testament is filled with abhorrent teachings. Even If I were to ignore the content of the Books, I still find the prospect that an omnipotent, omniscient, sentient, celestial entity, with an unknowable and vastly more unlikely origin than the scientific theories for the origin of the Universe, to be Idiotic.

Bill Maher isn't a bigot at all. He's just being honest and truthful. He says the facts that really are uncomfortable. People call him a bigot because he speaks the truth which hurts people's feelings.
If she says the majority don't do or believe those things then they're just straight up apostates to their religion because their book is pretty dang clear on all those issues. It leaves very very little, if any, wiggle room to not follow those things.

Listen now. Criticizing Islam is not islamophobia. We have to be able to criticize ideas. We are not being bigoted toward Muslims as people when we criticize the religion. Also, Muslims who hold reprehensible views are not a minority. They are the majority. If you are a homosexual or an apostate in almost any Muslim country, you have to fear for your life because the majority of Muslims believe death or imprisonment is the appropriate punishment for these things. Also, the majority of Muslims believe that women are lesser than men.

"How many gay bars are in Gaza?" is exactly the right question, because that's the point. You can be gay in a muslim country, but you could never identify publically as so. It is impossible for a religious state to not oppress it's people.

The Muslim issue aside, it is despicably hypocritical of Bill to accuse Gaza of being primitive and a violator of human rights given that he is a vehement supporter of Israel: the state that is responsible for mass destruction, ethnic cleansing, and stifling progress of all kinds in Gaza.

Research usually leads you to the truth if you’re willing to accept it. My family still doesn’t want to accept unfortunately but they can’t argue facts. They just turn to name calling and my Mom turns to praying to Allah for my soul, lol. Thankfully they’ve come a long way and have given up the idea of killing me. 😆

@@Ottts22 You must never have seen a show like this. In the US we have what is called "discussion" where people are invited to give opposing ideas. In all the years I've watched Maher's shows, I've never seen any single person monopolize the discussion like she did. She spoke for about 95% of the clip and when someone tried to make an opposing point, she talked right over them.
So, she wasn't interrupted. She took a discussion and monopolized it. Maybe she's not as secular as she thinks. She sure seems to be a true believer to me.
