Wow I was in 6th grade when this came out!! My how time has flown past as well as the age of good music with subtle undertones!! Punk Funk all the way!!!
I love how Rick evolved with the sound. For an artist who got his big break in the late 70's it shows his limitless ability as an artist, composer and producer to change with the time and stay relevant.
When I hear this song it reminds me of a song made back in the 70's by "Hot Chocolate" called "You Sexy Thing" This was a Soul band based here in the UK, with Erroll Brown's unique vocals. I often wonder if Rick was inspired by their songs from that era. R.I.P Rick and Erroll
Nahh man this song deserves recognition cause it's one of his best songs in my opinion
My favourite song from this album. That guitar riff is definitely inspired by Prince

It was a synthesizer
On the contrary.

So 80's. It sounds like The Mary Jane Girls.
Well the MJ Girls were his back up vocals on many of his songs.
Well the Mary Jane Girls often sung backing vocals on many of Rick's songs.
