Based on the fast pace and somewhat optimistic tone, I was thinking more a weird lovechild of Get To the Top, Shiawase Nara and Machinegun Kiss, but you do make a good point. Ironically, 3/4 of what we thought of were Majima songs.
The official English version really had to change up a lot of the lyrics for them to fit the beat. It makes sense though; I can't imagine it was easy coming up with lyrics that fit some of the really specific timings, haha.

Yeah considering it's the background vocal being sad after a breakup and the main singer being all optimistic, it would fit better with Adachi as the singer and Ichiban as the sad sack but there are two reasons I think they did this: - First is the in-universe explanation that sure, Ichiban is sad things didn't work out with Saeko, but he's determined to bounce back and so instead of moping about in the Baka Mitai zone, he sings an uplifting, happy song about bouncing back from a breakup and in fact helping a friend who's sad as well. The thing people often forget is that these characters don't write the songs and neither are the songs written ABOUT them in-universe. Sure, the game is written in a way where the songs are made FOR the characters, but I've noticed that the writers make sure not all the pieces fit, to make it more believable. So it's less like "oh this song is describing this character's exact situation!" and more like the character heard this song, felt like enough of it fit their current emotions and decided to sing it. So Ichiban's determination to bounce back from everything could very well play a role in why it's him singing the optimistic parts. - Second is I think the real world reason. See, Adachi's sadness about the breakup is played very comedically in this song. He even has a "Waaaaaaaaaaaaah!" crying moment in it. The song otherwise is very funny and uplifting but also kinda derisive of the person receiving the breakup. I mean it pretty much implies he didn't notice she'd had a boyfriend for 4 years because he's an idiot. If that kind of tone was sung with Ichiban as the rejected guy, it would kinda sound like he's being mocked after Saeko not only rejected him but basically cut ties with him. Plus the rejection itself is played completely straight. Yes, Nanba and Adachi's date training was hilarious, but the fact Saeko is now avoiding Ichiban is played completely seriously to show how devastated Ichi is by it. It'd probably leave a bad taste in everyone's mouths to have such a serious bad thing happen to Ichiban and then keep kicking him when he's down by making jokes specifically at his expense. If anything, this setup makes Adachi look like a considerate friend who knows his buddy is in a tough spot so he goes out of his way to play the sad dunce both to distract Ichiban and to let him play the hero.
Just a small request but if you could translate Hana’s full version of rain drops that would be awesome! And maybe not use the English version how you did in pure love in kamurocho
