    A member of the DIS Boards DVC community for YEARS! Owner at BCV, HH, and Aulani. Love DVC. We went for the first time when our girls were 3 and 4. They are graduating college now. One expensive vacation at the Poly back then, and we bought BCV. Best decision.

    If you bought resale lets say 500 to use and 500 to rent out, your vacations would be paid for each year. I think OKW, GFV, or AKL would be the best bet.

    OK so I have a video idea. Now that Pete has the membership card, I think it would be cool to see a Vlog where he goes up to the top of Bay Lake Tower to watch the fireworks and also maybe try some of the food that they serve up there in the lounge.
    Those DVC member lounges are actually pretty nice. The one in Epcot above Journey into Imagination is also pretty nice when the park is really hot and crowded. They have Pete's favorite Coca-Cola machines up there that you can just keep refilling at so I feel like seeing him check out those places, even if he is already been there before, would be pretty interesting and informative for people looking into some of the benefits of DVC outside of the discounts.

    When asked about what you get from DVC, I start off by telling them that it is basically a membership in a fairly exclusive club. Regarding true value, If you stay Deluxe level at Disney annually or more often, DVC is worth it. Otherwise, not a lot of value to a casual Disney park fan. You can stay "cheaper" outside of DVC if moderates or values are your style.

    Truly loving this series. I have rented points many times in the past and plan on taking the plunge into ownership by the end of this year. My biggest question is where to buy into, I am thinking OKW would make more financial sense but my favorite resort in Boardwalk. So I would like to hear others' experience with being able to get say a studio at the Boardwalk seven months out.

    • @wolfc87
      @wolfc87 5 лет назад

      Richard Galuchie, we have been owners at Boardwalk since 1998. It is extremely difficult to get a studio 7 months out. I was forgetful and waited until the 10 month window to book a studio for the first weekend in Dec. Not only were studios full, so were the 1 bedroom. Except for Saratoga and sometimes OKW, most resorts have slim pickings at the 7 month window. Took me 3 weeks of trying before I could snag a 2 bedroom at Aulani

    Can you do an episode about how difficult it is to get the resort you want on the dates you want? How at 11 months out you can only get your home resort. But at 7 months out you can't find any resort you want for your dates you want. I went to the DVC tour and every date I had at 7 months there were no resorts available except Saratoga. I don't want to stay at Saratoga. I want Epcot resorts and at 7 months nothing available. Convince me that I can get the resort I want at 7 months out and I'll buy.

    Welcome Home Pete! Boulder Ridge Member as well. Use Year gets so overly complicated. Bottom line is, it is in your best interest to travel early in your use year. (Its a form of insurance so to speak). Of course if this is only applicable if you travel at the same time of year (most) years. IF, for example, your intent is to do primarily in December for Christmas, DO NOT buy a a February Use Year (there is no January), look for an August, Sept. Or November contract. The 'ideal' case would be to travel in the first 4 months of your UY

    it’s such a high up front cost .... plus the $1000 maintenance fee... after 25 years or whatever .... I’ve crunched the numbers loosely- there was about an $8k difference.... now if you don’t have ALL the money and your paying - heard the timeshare guy say 8-15% interest on that loan.... vs then if I’m investing money over say 20 years - how am I doing in the market.... ugh so confusing... but really really only seems like you save money if you buy it and pay for it all with straight up cash.- lol which if you got 25k in cash freed up- good for you! Haha I don’t
    Though I get you’re staying at a deluxe resort every trip - I was basing this off my last yacht club trip cost- In which we got 25% room discount bc we tend to go when they drop prices off room rates
    My $$ math is probably way off... lol

    • @triedandchew
      @triedandchew 5 лет назад

      If you rented through an agency like David's or DVC Rental Store, no. There are no cancellations. However, if you rented directly from an owner, you can always ask. In my opinion, you should be prepared to put in the work to find someone to take over that reservation for the price you paid so you're not creating a hassle for the owner.

    • @chrisvanderloop
      @chrisvanderloop 5 лет назад

      sgn3099 I rented through David’s, and I’m not looking to cancel, I just wanted to make sure the owner can not rip the reservation from me, in case they wanted to use it instead, with the Star Wars announcement

    • @patricksp71
      @patricksp71 5 лет назад

      chrisvanderloop yes the owner can cancel, but if they did I am sure 100% that David or DVC Store would make good on your reservation even paying cash for a Disney Hotel. The reason people use a Broker is that they have a safety net of at LEAST getting their money back.

    Hey all!
    I don’t understand how buying into DVC is worth the money? I just returned from staying in a 2 bedroom villa at the Boardwalk for 7 nights. We rented points and I believe I got a fantastic deal. The total amount of points that were needed for our stay was 301 points. If I were able to become a DVC member and want to stay once a year for a 7 night trip at the Boardwalk in a 2 bedroom lock off doing the math ($188 x 301 points) would cost me $56,588. That’s not including the maintenance fees every year. I paid $2800 to rent the 301 points. That’s under $10 a point! This was our 10th Disney Trip in 9 years and for the last 5 times we rented. HOW DOES BECOMING A MEMBER BEAT THE DEAL THAT I GOT? Am I missing something? Can someone please enlighten me? Thank you.

    • @tomhenderson434
      @tomhenderson434 5 лет назад

      If you can rent points for under $10/point, keep doing it. You must be dealing directly with an owner (a friend or relative perhaps?) because at that price, you are barely covering their maintenance expense. I think most of the businesses that rent points want $15 or more/point, which is still a better deal than buying for many people.
