    This is by far the most informative you tube show/podcast about dvc I have found. Thank You for starting this and for all your hard work producing this show with such great content.

      I completely agree! I literally purchased my contract (which I’m waiting to find out if it passes ROFR) because of THIS series!! I’m so excited.

    NEW SHOW IDEA: Hey everyone great series. I have been going through the initial purchase of the DVC contract through Disney directly and think it would make a good show topic. Here are some of the things i wish i knew:
    - Cash Purchase; $500 deposit upon agreement up to 100pts, 101+pts they want 10% down plus closing costs up front. In my example i went from a $500 deposit to a $5,000 deposit because i wanted a few extra points.
    - It takes several weeks from the time you agree to purchase until they take the deposit and finally draft a contract when you are doing a mail-in contract.
    - Small incentives exist for purchasing over 120 pt contracts. These incentives increase as the number of points increase. This changes your cost per point calculation.
    - You can split your contract into several smaller contracts for $250 per split. Take for example a 150pt contract can be split into 2x 75 point contracts. This would help with resale or transferring 2 smaller contracts to family down the road.
    - Contracts can be assigned to a Trust but the trust needs to be created ahead of the purchase. They had no information about quick-claim deed transfers after the fact.
    - Disney automatically assigns the Deed to a spouse if you attend the meeting together. You can ask that the deed be assigned to only one of you. Likewise when splitting the contract you can deed them separately.
    - You must be there when using a DVC Membership card. They will ask for ID according to my rep so you can't give it to your kids or a family member who is attending the park with you.
    - If you decide to rent DVC points you are liable for any damages the renter makes to the property. You are technically the renter of that unit even if you go through a broker.
    - The DVC "tour" is not really a tour of the DVC properties that you are likely to purchase. It is only a sample of a few rooms. DVC did not offer/will not drive you to the resorts to check out Copper Creek as an example. If you want to do that you have to be dropped off there and figure out how to return to a park via transportation.
    - My DVC person said that Copper Creek has a monorail, however when looking at google maps the Monorail does not appear to enter the resort, only pass next to it. Given this is real estate, there is some liability associated with the statements DVC reps make (are they technically real estate agents?)
    - DVC offers a place to get refreshments and snacks at Epcot. They are building 1 of these facilities in each park. You must have a membership to get in.
    - There was a huge deal made about the DVC only events, like Midnight Magic. With that said, they really down-play the fact that they only occur a hand full of times throughout the year and they often don't tell you far enough in advance to plan your vacation around (11-month pre-booking)
    - You can get Disney transportation from the airport and into the parks through DVC reservations.
    - You can get extra magic hours through the DVC stays.
    I'm sure there is more.. but this seems like enough to start a discussion. Thanks again for all your hard work.. keep it up!!

      Call me crazy, but if you aren't up enough on Disney to know where the monorail goes and doesn't go, do you really know if DVC is right for you? DVC cast members are great after you buy, but when I was there buying I heard some hard selling going on. People need to be careful. From watching these shows researching on the boards and my brother (who is an owner) I knew what I wanted and what I needed to know walking in. We controlled the whole tour. By the way if you want to see rooms at the resorts ask the DVC rep. The one at bay lake took us right up stairs to an empty room so we could see it.

    Love these videos ! You’ve helped me realize that DVC is not for us. We only stay studios and I’ve always been afraid of buying in because of lack of availability . You guys confirm my fears and THANKFUL you’re honest enough to say if you just do studios , DVC may not be for you .

    We are DVC members since this year and I have nothing but good to talk about it. We enjoyed our first ever DVC vacation at my favorite Grand Floridian 3 bedroom villa with our family and brothers as well. So we were two family of 6 and 5 and we still had enough room. I know like Corey said ‘ballin the budget’ :) it’s not something to get on finance specially if you are getting more than 200 points. Do your thinking and numbers and definitely go ahead of you really wanna do it. For our family it’s the best thing we did in aspect of vacations. Love my DVC💕

    Rookie mistake we made was not reselling or renting out when my wife was diagnosed with cancer (too much going on to even think about it) and so we foreclosed on our DVC at Aulani. We bought at just over $100 per point in 2010 and now it's quite a bit more. Only got to use it once.

    Closed on AKL in June (resale). Already had an 8 day vacation “pre-planned” for late Summer. Staying 4 days at Port Orleans and then hoped to spend the last 4 days at AKL. I was able to get the room I wanted (1-bedroom Savannah view) for the days I wanted without a problem. It was a dream come true and the Savannah 1 and 2 bedroom is why I purchased. I only had 68 2018-points and used some of the 2019 points from my front-loaded contract. I was so scared that I wouldn’t be able to book what I wanted so close to our vacation but lucked out. After calming down from that joy I tried for our May-Vacay and scored concierge at AKL for our whole vacation. I honestly love my dvc membership so far. THIS CHANNEL HELPED ME KNOW WHAT TO BUY AND WHEN TO BUY. Thanks a million.

    I really want to join the DVC club but I struggle with several things. 1. We go every year several times a year but only for 3-4 days tops, don't know if it benefits to become a member and if so which use year would be better - Jan, May, Oct, Nov. and then 2. We usually choose Club level because we love the food throughout the day - we don't eat much so that works for us - we can go all day on that and purchase no food. I wish DVC had more Club Levels and/or allowed DVC members to get/pay for access to Club Level.

    I wish we had picked a different use year - realized that after the last September hurricane. Thank goodness for DVC Member Services who allowed me to bank the 3 days of points for the next year when we couldn't find any availability for the rest of the year.

    I fought add-onitis for a few months before pulling the trigger so I had heard enough horror stories about the juggling of multiple use years. So far I've only stuck to 1 home resort, but my next one will definitely be for another resort. DVC Member Services is the best!

    The DVC Show series it's very informative, and I do enjoy watching it and learning more about the DVC club. I am somewhat of a DVC fan but still trying to figure out if it's right for me. Years ago when it was something like $99-$101 a point is when I first got interested and probably should have joined then but the only reason I was unsure is that as much as I love Disney, I am only able to travel once a year and I didn't want to invest all that money for just a room and be locked in to only Disney vacations every year or even every other year for 40 years. There are other places to visit for a great vacation. DVC members please don't get insulted by this as it's not meant to put it down, it's only my opinion for my situation.
    I know I could have let my children use it or leave it to them, but now they are older and have no children, they probably wouldn't use it as much as they too want to travel to different places. Like I said this is only my situation and feelings about it, it doesn't mean it's the same for everybody and I don't put down anyone who does join. I will still keep watching though as this is a very informative series and I still keep trying to find a reason to join but haven't found it yet.

    ****Attention: Every show discusses buying tons of points, but what about the families on a budget? Please have a show that discusses using lower amounts of points (100-200) and how you can utilize them while visiting every other year and during the off season. I feel like this show is dedicated to the rich and how they juggle multiple contracts and can’t manage their use year. Let’s have a show for the average family for once. Thank you, Proud Owner at Copper Creek

    Biggest mistake I can think of is over excitement and using to many points your first time (BBU). It can take a long time to get back to a normal use cycle if you do that, buy it for YOUR yearly use +25%.

    Tell me why I should buy DVC. You can't get the room you want you can't get the dates you want.
    Except at Saratoga Springs where I don't want to stay.
    Not for me at all. I've done the tour many times but doesn't make sense for me.
    Thanks for the great info though.

      janet tordolino seems to me you’re better off renting points. It’s much cheaper than what the owners pay once you add in the maintenance fees the owners have to pay. Plus you only pay for the nights you are there instead of wether you use it or not. I love staying at DVC, but I’m like you & not buying anything.

      If you either know your vacation at 11 months out, or don't care about where you stay 7 months (or less ) before your vacation, DVC is for you
      If you want the "Deluxe" resort experience for "moderate" prices, DVC is for you
      If you plan on vacations at WDW 5-7 times in the next 10 years, DVC is for you.
      if you don't fall into those categories, DVC is NOT for you. Do not think DVC is a "real estate" investment that will appreciate in value over time. Don't go in thinking i can buy at 100$ per point and cash our at $150/point years down the road. It's only a way to pre-pay for your vacation hotel room. any benifit from ticket discounts, merch discounts, etc.. not something to factor in to your DVC decision.
      From what you said, it doesn't sound like DVC is right for you.

      If you book 11 months out, availability tends not to be an issue. If thats not how you roll, DVC isnt for you

    • @wakeywarrior
      @wakeywarrior 5 лет назад

      Drakething renting points is roughly 2.5 times what owners pay in dues, so this is wrong. Of course, owners have to buy in, but many, including myself, would sell at a good profit- I’ve been paid to stay in deluxe DVC resorts. So it can, or could , be great value.

    • @ruflippingkiddingme
      @ruflippingkiddingme 5 лет назад

      If you bought at the resort that you want to stay at and the amount of points to stay in a specific room and you book at 11 months then why isnt it working for you? I will agree that if you are buying to only stay on a studio then that seems like the rooms that everyone has a problem getting. To date the overall message that I'm getting is buy enough points to get a 1 br at the resort you want to stay at and book at 11 months then you should be happy.

  • @mnb9162
    @mnb9162 5 лет назад +3

    Very sneaky(almost false) advertising by Disney offering those tower rooms at such small availability. They know for damn sure that people will buy based on those entry prices and basically over sell them. Its almost laughable how they make it so blatant by only including a few of them. They do love a bit of marketing magic. Solution? Buy more points! Whatever the problem, buy more points. Mortgage the house. Mickey wants it all.

    Okay here’s a doozie! And I am smack in the middle of it. If you plan to add one of your kids to one of your contracts be sure to do it 13+ months out from any planned reservation at your home resort or 9+ months out if staying anywhere else because even though your deed is filed with the county DVC will not approve your gratuitous transfer if you have a reservation booked! Ridiculous. I discussed everything with DVC prior to calling the First American title company they recommended. But they never told me any of that. Pain in the rear end. So now I paid $500+ to add our daughter for our upcoming trip and they won’t approve it unless we cancel our trip. 😳😢🤬

    I am looking at a resale contract for AK. We have a family of 5 and would want a 2 bedroom. For a January travel month, I was looking at st least 300 points. Do you recommend 1 larger contract,or 2 smaller ones? My husband and I would also love to do a few nights in September for Food and Wine. (Side note: I am also super disappointed that the only AP we could qualify for with a resale contract s the highest tiered one:(
