Not all but most game and film music are as classical as classical gets. Looking for a clear line separating them is not a good idea. They should be seen as parts of a continium, flowing intoneach other. I think Amanda is right in saying that the only difference is context. And maybe our learned and fossilized attitudes? Thank you for covering this very interesting subject, Beatrix. And Amanda. And please say «merhaba» to the to Celik Refik Kaya, Amanda. To the man behind a good deal of the VGM compositions 😊

There's an official world-wide orchestral tour that's been going for many years called Distant Worlds that honors the entire 25+ years of the Final Fantasy game series. They're doing a tour dedicated to the new Final Fantasy VII Rebirth this year, highly recommended. Also check out the FFVII through FFX Piano Collections albums. With the tours and the Piano Collections, the songs are traditionally arranged. It's just one counterpoint against the idea that all "video game music" must be structured to dynamically serve gameplay above all else.

I would be so so incredibly overjoyed to see a distant worlds concert ! Final Fantasy soundtracks are so gorgeous . Fingers crossed they will tour in Australia again :)!

Thank you so much for this !! I’m a fan of both video game music and classical . I’m a big fan of the soundtracks of Koji Kondo ( Legend of Zelda ocarina of time composer ),
Keiichi Okabe ( Nier replicant , Nier automata )
Nobuo Uematsu ( Final Fantasy games. Not all of them but many pieces are composed by him )
Anyway this was fascinating ! Thank you 🙏 very much

Games don't make you aggressive, lagging during ranked games does.

Guilty Gear music (Rock-Metal) is what I like learning in electric guitar, and as a beginner (2 years) it is hard. Video game music is important for creative freedom. You can find very beautiful music as well. Try Water Ruins soundtrack from Jet Force Gemini 🎼🎶😏.

Same for me. Guilty Gear and The King of Fighters (97,98,99,2000) Arranged tracks who inspired me to learn how to play guitar and to listen to rock music in general. If I don't listened to that music maybe I was never got into rock music.

I'm really enjoying your podcast series. I hope you plan to talk to some guitar composers who are active on RUclips, such as Andrew York and Angela Mair.

Thanks! Oh I definitely am, there are so many inspiring people on this field who I’d love to talk to, Andrew and Angela are absolutely some of them 😁

@@beatrixguitar Glad to hear you’ve got such a long wish list of guests. Andrew is very well known, of course, but I’ve never seen an interview with Angela and I hope she can get a broader audience for her music. I know you’ve played her stuff. I’m working on some of her pieces now and they’re wonderful. (Oh, and don’t forget Maria Linnemann!)
PS. One thing I enjoy about your podcast is that I hadn’t even heard of about half the guests you’ve had on.

Beatrix, would you consider having Lucas Brar on?

Koji kondo is my favorite. Having most of these pieces engrained in my subconscious from 1000s of hours of playing the games, it makes it easier to learn.

It is a bad and annoying custom with a "coming up intro". What is it really for? It seems populist and a little too clever - and totally redundant.

Yes over 1 minute of random clips I'll watch once again while watching whole video. Never understood what's this all about. Spoilers always annoy.
