    As an Aussie who grew up with Icehouse in the 80s I remember when this song came out I thought the bass was amazing. Now I'm watching the guy (Guy) who recorded it playing it on the bass he used to record it! Unbelievable. Thanks for putting this up.

    • @mumblbeebee6546
      @mumblbeebee6546 3 года назад

      Not the bass that it was recorded on - as Guy explains, that was a Precision they borrowed. But I do get what you are saying, RUclips is incredible, seeing Lee Sklar, Guy Pratt and others play the lines I grew up with!

    Even though I like Pastorius and love jazz, it was Mick who got me into getting a fretless. It worked so well within the music of Japan.

    Thanks so much Guy for this performance. Hearing you play this again made my day, week, month and year. I bought the album this song was on in 80s and have loved it since. The moodiness of the fretless part really contributes so much to the song. The OZ music scene back in the 80s was really alive, pubs everywhere with great bands. Great days.

I was very fortunate to see you perform many times with Icehouse in Australia during the 1982-1984 ish era and always looked forward to hearing "Don't believe anymore". Was just saying to my (guitar playing) work colleague yesterday that it was about time you had another video up. Happy times in this mad world.
    In my recommended list was Don't Believe Anymore from your 1984 appearance on Countdown (not the quiz show, I presume). Is this the same bass (and has your dancing improved)?
    (I know I could probably Google that, (not the dancing bit - that's a bit more subjective)).

And happy to see the Round House SFoS. It’s so clear that you guys are full of energy and have FUN playing together. This is so great seeing these videos! I discovered Icehouse in 1986 - the bass playing on Sidewalk is spectacular. It’s all beautiful playing & it sets the mood of the album. I started out with Measure for Measure and I’d listen in my headphones - the album transported me completely - so I would go to a record shop in Philadelphia called “3rd Street Jazz” where they had all the Icehouse records, imports and singles and I took a deep dive into the band’s sound. Around that time I was also listening to Patrick O’Hearn, so pretty much you and Patrick are why I own a Fender Jazz Fretless bass with the OctaBass pedal.

    Another great song that I didn't know! It might be an age thing, but over the past few years, I find the 80s seems to be a proper treasure trove if you stray just off that beaten track. I started out on keys/synths before guitar, and the textures are what make it for me, what got me into PF amongst other things. And there's nothing like a well placed or misplaced bass fill to drive an emotional response.
    The Roundhouse stuff sounds and looks great, love the sound on those toms. And has hopefully elevated some earlier great songs into people's consciousness. The arrangements have given them new life.
    Potato Waffling complete!

    Guy....these are great! So glad that you are making these. I see why you have always been busy and in demand. Love the playing and back history. Thanks very much and stay safe.

    As a mad Floyd fan i have listened to the other stuff you have done and enjoyed. I really like this song, I honestly did not realise how much other stuff you have done and certainly appreciate your play a hell of a lot more. Respect Guy 😀
