Was this recorded before the update, or is this just not a current patch speedrun? If it's the latter, why speedrun an old version?

Old commencement is like 10x easier cause u can skip to the escape ship and theres no charge to it

Isn't this record on an old build of the game compared to the upload time? Like, 1.1 was already out before this video and your commencement stage is from before 1.1.
So how is this even a valid run? Don't take this as trying to diminish your run, I'm just genuinely curious.
Is this for console runs since you get the updates later on console?

The community had been running on earlier/faster versions of the game even before 1.1 came out. The reasoning behind allowing downpatching is that we are running on an official release of the game, and the differences in a run are not significant enough to warrant obsoleting runs done on older versions of the game.
