  • Bryn Elliot suffered through 10 years of abuse as a child from a close family friend. She also struggled with heavy drug use in her teens as a way of coping with PTSD. She lost her sister and spiraled into severe depression, but there was still hope.

Well, it’s really too bad that the lady that works for the show keeps interrupting this young woman telling her story and. She keeps wanting to control where things goes as if she wants to tell the young ladies story. She doesn’t want the young lady to tell it, she wants to control how she tells it and what she talks about, really sad. My heart sugar goes out for this young lady. We all have our stories and somewhere worse than others in months. Not a very nice story either but she’s suffered even more than I could imagine.

It’s common, and you can’t tell your parents either, unless they are safe people.
My father was my abuser, right under my Mothers nose. But I dare not tell her, as he was abusing her terribly. She took her life just after I turned 14, so the fear in me doubled.

@@MCook013 do you go to any kind of counseling? I think it might help you to speak with someone at a professional level. To find someone just out there that you can trust with your story might not be that easy. Unless you already have a good friend that you feel you can trust? Maybe there is a self help group that you could go to and share your story.
A counselor would probably be able to give you a recommendation of where to go.

I'm so sorry for all your pain and hurt. God is close to the broke hearted, and He wants to take it away, heal you from it and give you unspeakable joy. Lay it at his feet! Eveything that has you in chains, tell him, cry out like a baby depending on their mother. Your family may have disappointed you but your Heavenly Father will NEVER let you down. I pray you have an encounter with Jesus and he opens your heart to receiving him. I pray for encouragement to keep going and your mind be free from the thoughts that bond you in Jesus name. Amen!

She tormented me emotionally so that I became timid and accepted abuse masquerading as love from other people. I prayed and encountered Jesus Christ Holy spirit. He healed me and taught me that love is not abuse. I encourage you to pray please and I will also pray for your healing.

First, you can't immediately. The hurt is too raw, and that's okay. Acknowledge the anger. Work with a therapist for perspective. Over time and with God's help, you can heal and then progress to the next step, which is forgiving. Forgiving is not letting the person off, though. The person can still be held accountable.
