    I don't know what it is about the Brits, but they always make the best demo videos. I watch a lot of videos, primarily in North America, and they just don't reach the same level as the Brits. This man didn't just talk about the features, but instead showed us the many uses. Wonderful video.

    I have a Swagman and whilst I use it mostly as a sleeping bag it as comfy and surprisingly warm. Used mine last night over a summer weight sleeping bag (temp 4C) and I was very cosy under my tarp.

    I am using a similar system, but I use the wilderness innovations Poncho Survival Shelter HD, it's a reg military poncho, but it can be used as a hammock too, it has channeled ends allowing cordage to run thru it, i have a few models from them, they are amazing and work very well with the helicon swagman roll, as a top quilt or an underquilt. super compact and great shelter element to have with me all the time.,

    I have had the swag man roll and it's a great piece of gear and well worth the money! I'll have to get the helicontex poncho and compare it to the US G.I. poncho. that with a G.I. bivy bag it would make for a great sleep spring,summer and fall sleep system. depending on where you are. here in Vietnam it would be plenty warm enough.
    thanks for the fine video! ATB Sam Adler from Vietnam

      @treksntarps  Год назад +1

      Thank yo Sam . Yes I like these 2 bits of kit . They combine well. Really not sure if the poncho is up to the usgi durability and I think the helikon one is a bit smaller . It is handy that you can use the liner and poncho as a sleep system especially in warmer weather. No protection from creepy crawlies though unless of course you have a fire near or some type of bug mesh . Anyway , thank you for watching . ATB 🏕👍

    What do you think of me using the Swagman as a liner for a Snugpak Softie 6? How low do you think i can go in temp?

    • @treksntarps
      @treksntarps  7 месяцев назад

      Hi . Not to sure. Depends on if you're a cold or warm sleeper . The swagman roll will definately add a few degrees of warmth though. Maybe you should test it in controlled conditions . Somewhere where you have a back up bag or somewhere warm to go. I've used my British army lightweight bag with the swagman roll at about 0 and was ok . Wouldnt want to go much lower though. Hope this helps . Take care 👍🏕

    • @treksntarps
      @treksntarps  7 месяцев назад

      I used the swagman sort of like a quilt inside the bag as it can be quite restrictive.

      @@treksntarps Im a cold sleeper and i have been sleeping in the Softie 6 in +10 degrees in a bases layer and i feel like that was almost the limit. Maybe use the Swagman on the outside of the Softie 6 then?

    • @treksntarps
      @treksntarps  7 месяцев назад

      @@Jakelol1980 I think the swagman is a bit small to go on the outside. It will add a few degrees to the snugpak but good idea to test it out and see how you get on . 👌
