Hi. Off to the woods on a clear fresh late Autumn day. I head off to the woods for a chilled walk and a practice with some of my tools. I bring my cold steel trail hawk, Bahco laplander saw and a bps knife. These tools are useful , reliable and budget friendly. Thank you for Watching.

A pleasant little overnighter in the one tigris tangram trekking pole tent It did the job of sheltering me and keeping the mozzies out. I'm usually under a tarp or in an old skool tent without a bug mesh but this was a nice little change . Tarps are a million times better than tents. I can pack a tarp that takes up half the space and set it up in half the time, which essentially does the exact same job. Tents are for novice campers. I honestly can't see a pro to a tent over a tarp other than them massive 6 man tents if you require that type of space.
Very educational/iinformative, without being pedantic. I ordinarily hang in a hammock, but I still enjoy learning about “ground-dwelling,” as I call it, and this was very helpful. Thank you for sharing. Be safe, and enjoy the forest.

Very interesting and practical video (not just a listing of features). I think a very nice upgrade can be (lil ?) larger versions of the poncho and the swagman, to have a real good summer sleeping system (not too tight and I am not a super huge man in any means ^^)
Thank you . Yes the swagman roll is a little tight in sleeping bag mode but doable. I sometimes combine it with a wool blanket and it works well if it's not really cold. Take care 👌🏕️
I like tarp setups with a floor. The ground is almost always at least damp.

Always good to have options. It does have the advantage of being enclosed. A tarp that is a tent wannabe . . . but it works.

Does that wind break/reflector thing bounce much heat back and does it pack light? Useful if it does kick the heat back with a basha. I also use a bush box style stove and if it was really cold and you had plenty of fuel I can imagine as long as you feed it something like that could work
Yes mate it is reflective and kicks back a fair amount of heat. The old twig stove does need nearly constant tending if you want it for a constant heat source though. Take care and thanks for watching 👍🏕️ Take care and t
Found your channel tonight. Commented on an older one. I suspect this is good for your mental health. I feel like I really need to get out at the moment. I haven’t done this since my youngest was born. I think 1 or 2 nights with my kits and a little radio a brew kit a few tins and a smoke and just be in nature and decompress would do me a world of good. Living vicariously through you watching this vid tonight. Would love to be out there somewhere right now! Love your vids man ✌🏻

the axe I didn't like at first till you removed the head it could be use for going stealth camping and for light bushcraft but I would rather just have my hatchet witch is about 17 inch i do like the Bahco laplander and will be getting one as i need a new one :)
Yes the trail hawk is good for lighter tasks and lighter carry. More laborious with larger tasks though. I get on ok with the Laplander . Does the job with anything up to about wrist thick sticks Take care and thanks for watching 👍🏕️

Picked one of these up earlier this summer. Sadly, I have only taken it out on an inaugural road ruck for 2 miles, 1 time. Due to work. But, I love the simplicity of it, and the streamlined design!

No its not ideal for all circumstances but you could always throw a ground sheet down , use a sleeping bag with a bug mesh and maybe use some repellent and citronella candle or 2 . To be honest I'm not sure if all that would work . Might do . Anyway , thank you for watching 🏕👍
Nice video, thank you. I love my Snugpack Jungle bag, which I've used with the British Army Bivvy at near zero degrees. My only problem was the same as yours, the zip snags more often than not. I've also got the blanket, which I close with self adhesive and use as a cover for the bag. I'm a hot sleeper and used the bag, blanket and bivvy combo down to -1.
Thank you. You are a hot sleeper. I tend to get a bit nippy with the jungle bag at around 9 degrees . Thats with it on its own though. . Still occasionally use it but not so much as the bug net zip broke and that was the main reason I bought it. To use under a tarp in bug season . Anyway thank you for watching. Take care 👍🏕
@@treksntarps, I've only used it with the British Army bivvy bag. I read that the bivvy adds about 5°C to a bag's ability. If you double it up with the jungle blanket, it gets very warm.

For some reason, the birds are like 5 times louder than you. If I turn the video up loud enough to hear you, the birds are really blasting my ear drums.

Hi . The swagman and wool blanket worked together nicely on that occasion . Had the swagman half open like a quilt first half of the night then went in to sleeping bag mode. A bit tight but ok. The durability is fairly good , not as a robust as a wool blanket but does the trick . Not sure how the combo would work in colder conditions without a fire. Just have to test these things out I suppose. I am on insta. Take care and thanks for watching 🏕👍

Quick tip for you. Put Basha or Tarp in this title and you get more hits. The crawler looks for these key words when people like me search for this type of outdoors stuff. I only found you yesterday and have subscribed as I am a tarp guy.

I never camp inside trees because of midges. I always camp on flat soft grass when I can. I also use meths and the Swiss army stove. It’s never let me down.

Mark, making char cloth is quite easy really. There's loads of different tutorials on RUclips for making char cloth. You're right in that you need 100% cotton material, after that it's just about heating it until it stops smoking. Let it cool down, have a quick check that's all burnt and your ready to go. Was interesting to see what happened to yours. 🙂 You're right in that you can use punkwood also. Charwood lasts longer with an ember, which I have found to be better for a birds nest. It's all good fun learning though, i've made loads of learning opportunities for myself also.

Yes mate it was a really simple relaxed camp .Yeahp most people ( although I try to avoid them 😂) are ok when you see them about but I do like to be discreet when I'm getting near or am at my spot. Usually no probs but often have a spell where I've got my eye out. I find doing camp chores projects etc take your mind off worrying about other people. Anyway take care bud 👌❤

I keep thinking of getting one as I've grown accustomed to sleeping on foam pads over the years. But, I totally get what you were saying about air mats, they're lovely and comfortable, I always get anxious about puncturing them and reserve them for when I fancy a treat! Thanks for sharing 👍
