Brought back memories of the regular maintenance that the tape machines needed. Quite enlightening for your younger viewers in particular, I would think. I remembering having to periodically de-magnetize the heads on my Akai 4000 DB reel to reel, as well as cleaning the heads with isopropyl alcohol, back in the late 70s. Quite a skill trying to de-magnetize the heads with the hand-held gadget (the black one with the red tip), I seem to remember. Never sure back then if I had got it completely right!
Well with demaging the heads and guides 1. Make sure no tape is around. 2. Next turn on the demager at least 3 feet away from the heads and slowly move into the head and up and down twice then very slowly withdraw. 3. Once you are at least 3 feet away turn of the demagnetizer.

I never knew Pip Williams played slide on the song!
