in my personal experience my main issue has been keeping the laser lens clean and not accidentally touching it while making the swap given how the flip-top lid makes it difficult to grasp the disc. Other stories I've heard are that people have busted their PS2s while installing the flip-top. I was lucky, and I had a second PS2 to fall back on anyway.
This is what transformers is all about! I don't know why this game wasn't well received by many, but seeing this 10 years later ( not exactly sure what year it was released though), this truly is one transformers game worth playing (armada didn't had the G1 feeling as this game did).
This is how I would like to see a Transformers Generation 1 movie with the surviving original American voice actors! If Japan can make a G1 movie with CGI, North America should be able to do the same thing!
@trence5 The 'Armada' Game isn't bad. Sure you only have 3 characters on the Autobot side to choose from, but at least you had large environments to explore and a diverse number of weapon loadouts to work with. This game on the other hand... well maybe once I finish the Autobot campaign I'll do a full review.
I have stated several times over the course of these video series', no. Either a Japanese PS2 or a modified PS2 can play this game. Unless you're on a tight budget I'd highly recommend the former.
What happens if I'm not careful I'm just wonder because idk a lot of people recommend me using swap magic and they said it worked with import with them not modding using swap magic I'm confused my first time doing this dig lol :D
Shockwave? The clown who sits around on Cybertron failing to stop the repeated Autobot incursions via the space bridge? Personally I liked that Chromedome was in there. But I am kind of partial to the Headmasters cartoon.
@Quickwing yeah, I liked DW Gundam, I think a TF game in that style would be pretty cool. Hey though, the armada PS2 version is still the best oldies game to date though.
After about 16 years later, we finally return to the Transformers.
LOL!
i absolutely adore the "we now return to" like the old commercial bumpers, as if we just sat through a 16 year commercial segment
I really loved the song on this opening and the parts reenacting TF:TM
damn shame this wasn't released in the US
Yeah, no wonder why Atari (Better publishers for Takara game) forgot about this game to be release instead the Armada one.
Yet it even has English voice acting and English text
the greatest travesty of the transformers. they made a g1 ps2 that was only released in japan but had full english audio and subtitles.
2:12 favorite part, love the Rodimus and Galvatron battle

I am going to shoot

I am also going to...ARGH i forgot my gun!
Man, I wish a clean version without sound effects existed. This theme is fucking BUMPIN.

Am I the only one who thinks that to this day, I would absolutely love a game based on the 86 movie?
Love the old school G1 sound effects, just they should swap out Weirdwolf and Chromedome for Blaster and Shockwave, then it'd be perfect. :D
Well shockwave is playable in the game

zengetsu7 It wasn't well received because the combat was god-awful.
I liked the armada game. Don't care much for the show though.
You’ve got a poor taste for both games and g1 content
Armada was better than this dogshit transformers game
Happy 20th Anniversary to the PS2 adaptation of Transformers G1 series!
0:36 this is my jam, is there a way for me to listen to this song without the sound effects?
a little late but the whole soundtrack can be found here! ruclips.net/p/PLXTyVAGKrCZ7O0x-BwlRUx7Iv_lwJp070

THis game is like the G1 fans dream game ! I love it ! thanks for posting these!

9 years later but this isn't a movie
The good old day...
This may well be the only reason I buy either a Japanese PS2 or a modded one.
i feel like i've seen some preview of the best TF series of all...
that battle of Rodimus Prime vs Galvatron was epic, that's all i can say
you know a fight is epic when their punches cause their skin to fly off
This does remind me of a Dynasty Warriors game, but with Transformers.
It'd be dope if Platinum remade this game
this looks great.

and it was good?

So epic 1:41
yes, in fact that's how I got this footage... but given how intermittently it works if you're not SUPER careful, I would advise against it.

Transformers G1: Call of the Future (2003)
(c) Takara Tomy (c) Hasbro
@TheThotPran I can understand not wanting to risk it, but I had 2 PS2s long past any warranty to work with and a PS3 to fall back on.
I want this game so I can play as Apeface in monkey mode.
My dad bought a japanese ps2 to be able to play this game.
...
THAT WAS TOTALLY WICKED!
I have this game.
Need this friggin song
Shockwave was one of the most important people in the game but isn't shown in the opening that makes no sense.
They even had a pair of minor characters instead.
@GiantCorey I'm adequately certain that the models used in DRSMOOV's videos are original.
Character Model is Studio OX.
Didnt studio ox went out of business in 2003?
Can u play on American ps2 with dis game
@ClintJohnHampton Feels like it, doesn't it? Maybe they should make a DW: TF game though.
Choose a side Autobots or Decepticons
how bout i use a swap magic with a ps2 non modded could dat work
Some scenes in the opening are making references to the movie and tv show
yes they even directly reference events of some g1 eposodes in the game though it isn't cannon
Shockwave? The clown who sits around on Cybertron failing to stop the repeated Autobot incursions via the space bridge?
Personally I liked that Chromedome was in there. But I am kind of partial to the Headmasters cartoon.
Ah yes the Matrix of leadership allows you to also tap into the Matrix!
hmm
yes
the floor here is made out of floor
CONVOY KICK!!!!!!
I see what you did there
when do they get to space in the game.
I forgot geeoners are here too 💀💀💀
@Quickwing yeah, I liked DW Gundam, I think a TF game in that style would be pretty cool. Hey though, the armada PS2 version is still the best oldies game to date though.
Dynasty Warriors: Transformers? :3
Yeah thx man! :D um I will get the swap magic and dis game I dnt think I have to mod my ps2 but yeah I've heard flip top is hard! Lol
CONVOY
Can you play this game on a PS3?
Not unless you have a japanese ps3 with backwards compatibility
Soft winky
hot rod win
Cool~
Lol winkysoft
the game itself is entertaining but overall is a mediocre game, the controls are stiff as fuck, great throw back to g1 though..
no
Devasia Mentality yes
Most of their names are wrong.
Actually they are all correct but are thier Japanese names
Damn I hate this game never came out over here in the States. All we got was that crappy Armanda game.
