I bought the soft gel cruiser bike seat for $50. It definitely made all the difference in the world. When I first got the bike I could only ride for 30 minutes at a time because of how much the seat hurt. Now, with the new seat I can ride for a few hours. I only stop because I get tired, but no pain in the ass (lol).

I am 6'2 and was 305 when I started riding this year in May, I ride 15 miles a day...I'm now down to 265 and the bike never had a problem supporting my weight... I have this bike, and despite the entire internet bike community having the general opinion that upgrading Walmart bikes are worthless, I think this is an exception. It's durable, full suspension, and just has loads of potential. Parts arriving today to convert to a single speed because I agree the shifting is pretty bad, I'd rather have simplicity and reliability. Thanks for shedding some light on this! I was worried I'd just placeboed myself into thinking it's a good bike, but I can't find a reason to knock on it.

Despite what people say about budget bikes, that style of bike right there are very good and durable for getting into the hobby. I have a 17 year old Huffy brand bike with that same style of frame, but mine is 26". I'd like to try a 29" like that. And yeah, those bikes with that frame style and dual suspension are HEAVY. But they have good weigh carrying capacity cause they are solid and suspension helps. Just don't go freestyle off high jumps on it, not made for that. Even expensive 4-digit price bikes implode. ;-)

@@KeithTheGreatH Hey bud. I just bought this bike the other day for the purpose of being a shit-kicker bike (i.e. a junk bike to ride during rainy days or winter weather because I don't want to take my main bike, a Trek hybrid, out in that type of weather) and I'm noticing how difficult it is to pedal while at the same time barely gaining any kind of speed. I know mountain bikes aren't exactly made for the road due to its weight and large tires which cause rolling resistance but goddamn this thing is a workout, lol!
Is this natural though? Nothing's rubbing the tires that would otherwise contribute to difficult pedaling and lack of speed and nothing else that I'm aware of seems to be wrong with it. I did all the inspections and tuning myself so all seems to be as they should.

I have a similar bike (also a Kent Flexor). I ride it often. Gear shifting is smooth, brakes are responsive, seat is comfortable (to me at least). I like the shocks on it too. It flexes maybe a little too much when heading uphill & going over small bumps. It's also quite heavy so getting it on & off a transit bus' bike rack can be tricky. I put a taillight on the bike so I had to set the seat higher which makes getting on & off awkward at times (I'm 6'1"). Otherwise smooth ride. Bought mine recently for $148 at my local Walmart. I always store my bike indoors when home inside my small apartment to hopefully lengthen its life.

Lubricate ALL your cables, all should work better. As far as seat breaking... Maybe lose some weight or make sure it's installed correctly. Brakes... clean your wheels of road crap and brakes will be better (and lose weight). Any DUAL SUSPENSION BIKE will be heavier than a non-suspended. The frame is fine.. A bike shop is what you need or go to RUclips and see tutorials to learn how to set up everything. Just keep trucking. Check brake pad adjustment/condition... But especially clean wheels where pads contact wheel/rims. Shifting is linked to proper lubrication. NEVER USE SILICONE AS A LUBE... You'll really mess up. Use a lube the shop recommends. Have your wheels TRUED (if not trued, braking will SUCK). The bike is fine if you know how to MAINTAIN IT.

Learn how to maintain a machine before spending $$$ on a more expensive model. A well maintained Toyota is better/smarter idea than a Corvette.

I had the pleasure of putting one of these Kent Flexors together recently and this is my honest opinion. AVOID AVOID AVOID! Make no mistake this is a junk bike and expected to be however this is NOT worth buying online its a huge rip off! Bikes is not ride worthy out of the box and NEEDS professional inspection/work which is EXPECTED however BIG PROBLEM major parts found damaged from factory. Headset put on too tight were threaded stem damaged. Needs new front fork assembly now. Axle damaged from putting on too tight HOWEVER worst thing is company does not honor warranty and will skate out of it. Your experience may be different however company not honoring warranty is a big killer on this. Dont say someone didnt warn you!

nonya biz that's interesting. Yeah my complaint list wasn't that long but that's definitely believable. I picked mine up in stores from Walmart 3 years ago and took it to a moderate trail today. It performed really well. Maybe there's a flaw with quality control in the factory. 🤔

@@KeithTheGreatH My example was new fresh out of a box shipped to my shop and this particular ones a bust however the biggest problem is the Kent company not honoring the warranty. Also sourcing new parts on these old style bikes is a headache. This bike uses a threaded headset which is the old school type which means finding new forks or upgrading will be very difficult especially since you will need to with the tires, brakes, front forks, all being junk. I recommend threadless headsets on MTB and one with at least double wall wheels with disk brakes while your at it spend more money on a better bike. A good bottom of the barrel suspension bike is Gravity. For just 400 bucks they are a million times better than these Kents.
