These videos are great for new pilots like me. Just shows how much work and tenacity it takes to stay up. If you watch some of the other videos it seems like you just jump off a hill and then fly for 100 miles no problem...and then have a beer in a cozy pub.
I'm a sailplane pilot and to me this was fascinating to watch. Amazing how similar our sports are, but how different the strategy for cross-country flying has to be. Good work. I'll have to try paragliding some time!
Glad you enjoyed it! As you can see I've got many more videos to hook you into paragliding :-) Agree re the differences, we can only dream of a 30:1 glide ratio...! But I do enjoy out-climbing sailplanes in a thermal :-)
Hahaha, Love your stuff man. I also swear numerous times when the thermal doesn't work or something. I always laugh when i hear others curse like i do😂 Brilliant. Hahaha😂

Being sucked into clouds does happen, and can be pretty scary if you're not prepared for it, or used to it. But it's something we all generally try to avoid by sticking to the "45 degree" rule - that's to say if you imagine you're looking at a cloud from the side, and draw two lines at 45 deg from the edges such that they meet beneathe the cloud. Then as long as you stay outside that triangle (or cone in 3D) then you'll always be able to fly away faster than you will get sucked up. It's always a good idea to have an idea of how tall clouds are before you get underneath one - if they're small then getting sucked up into isn't going to be much of a problem as long as you don't get disorientated, however if they're 10,000' tall say, then you'd probably give them a much wider berth!
Steele Ben Hi Ben, almost five hours - see www.xcontest.org/2016/world/en/flights/detail:timpent/29.8.2016/11:38. Good luck with your progression in this fantastic sport!

I'll bet it is! I'm always amazed seeing how fast PGs climb when they hook the core.
Twigulus This was a nice climb... ruclips.net/video/2pGwL_FOP8g/видео.html

Haha, yeah, it deffo helps sometimes to let off a bit of steam!
You love the sport this is why you do it to yourself. Your passionate.
Great flying Tim. I watch all 17 minutes, it felt like an hour. No flying for me that day in North of England, too windy. :(
"I watch all 17 minutes, it felt like an hour" - is that a good thing? :-) Yep, it's definitely been a southern season - feeling sorry for you guys...
Definitely interesting.. nice work!!
Looks like there was rather strong wind, so it breaks thermics into small bubbles, thermics were unable to good form from the ground.
Don't you hate it when you show someone the lift and they climb out on it and you don't.
Great video, thanks.
? I wonder who showed who.... The other pilot was low too, even lower and was searching more, if you ask me...
Wow that’s a dream climb!!!!!! 🤩🤩

😂😂😂
ahhh so nice. wish it was spring...
language Timothy! Nice save.
Beautiful :)
Don't you worry about going in the clouds? Won't you get sucked in?

Chapeau - all the sweeter for being hard-won!
If you look that that sky it would have been sooo sad to land. I know that feeling :D
Haha, very true, we've all been there :-)
How long was your over all flight?I'm just learning so 5 min or so is my best.

@@TimPentreath sweet, thanks for the info.
I've never met an angry pg pilot before! Where's your Zen at , bro?
Haha, I find it helps focus the mind sometimes... I'm not an angry person, honest :-)
@@TimPentreath Apart from your posher accent, we sound very similar in the sky. I'm swearing at myself I think. :-)
haha i fucking deserve this!!!!
