Hi, this series is awesome! Your DS1 Video actually inspired me to do a Boss lore ranking video with elden ring... I can't match your quality, and the idea is originally yours, yet I don't always agree with your pics, so I believe that my list would be very different from yours and that I would not merely be copying. If I gave a shoutout to you at the beginning, abd mentionned that it is originally your idea, would you be fine with me doing this? I am not sure if I will make one talking about the bosses and the mini-bosses, or two separate Videos.
Well yes, but you have to remember you can only fight the Moon Presence by becoming a Great One yourself, I'm unsure of what the consumption of the Cords really does, or what the consumption even is for that matter, do you just eat it? Anyway, clearly the Cords give you some incredible power or knowledge.
Really cool video! One quick note - you mention that Gehrman is the only known Hunter who successfully uses the material known as siderite. But Eileen the Crow wields the Blades of Mercy, which according to their description were also forged with siderite. ""A special trick weapon passed down among hunters of hunters. One of the oldest weapons of the workshop. Splits into two when activated. The weapon's warped blades are forged with siderite, a rare mineral of the heavens. Most effective swift attacks, such as after a quick-stepping."
It doesn't say she made it though. It's said to be one of the oldest weapons, and she just so happens to use it, and it's said to be passed down, so it's implied she never made it
Hey I would like to address an oversight you had for the bloodletting beast. There is a significant amount of evidence pointing to the bloodletting beast to being Laurence in the overworld. 1. As you said Laurence the first vicar is a reflection of him, not actually him. This is clear as Laurence’s skull in the cathedral is an ape skull, which would be consistent with types of beasts like bloodletting beast and abhorrent beast, along with many of the villagers in the town. Laurence the first vicar has a hound skull. 2. As I said the skull of Laurence is ape like just like bloodletting beast, but it also has a split in the skull on one side which matches the scar on the bloodletting beast. Later in the chalice dungeon the bloodletting beast is missing its head which would make sense for the head of Laurence being inside the cathedral. 3. The chalice dungeons reflect times past. This is clear because you can find rom not dead, queen yharnam still pregnant, etc.
@@SomeOrdinaryViewer yes maria is in the dirt of the real hunters dream, ludwig is the madman npc from the chalice dungeons that use his base game weapons, orphan was already dead in the real world (or so it is theorized, as it is believed kos was well dead when the scholars arrived, the inhabitants having already been making us of her corpse, which makes the sin of the hunters the act of killing the orphan)

I think Maria is stronger than Gehrman because she has blood magic that she never uses, only using it against the player, so any quote who mentions her power would be doing so without considering her blood magic
I would also change Mergo and Kos, Mergo is definitely not a great one and Amygdala is probably a very weak great one considering the fact that there are many of them in-game, while the orphan is a unique great one
@@LuccadeMourathe wetnurse is a great one , we know from the trophy and olso because he is tring to take mergo , and obteining a baby is the goal of all the great one’s . She is olso the one who made the pact with Mensis.
In a fair battle maybe, but when fighting the player gherman is granted power by the moon itself. Also a lot of maria's tecnichques are thought directly by gherman such as the superspeed, which doesn't necessarily tells us that gherman is stronger than maria because the student can sometimes be stronger than the teacher, but still it does tell us that the first hunter was a force of nature by itself, regardless of the moon power.
Great list! I did not expect ebrietas to be 2nd, but your explanation about her being the only great one other than the moon present to be fully present makes alot of sense
2:17:20 quick little fix. It’s not that you need 3 pieces of an umbilical Cord. The item itself is “one third”. So after consuming 3… you already possess 1 FULL umbilical cord. The fact there are 4 pieces in the world is just the developers being Gugachads and not forcing the players down a singular path to get this ending (dealing with Fake-sefka and/or saving the lady of the night.
The "One Third" part is actually a mistranslation from the original Japanese, with the UK version calling it by its more accurate title of Third Umbilical Cord. I don't know why the "One Third" part was added, but they are supposed to be full cords, with the third aspect being in addition to the usual umbilical cord of birth.
@joshuareesor1756 Spot on. Third umbilical cord is what it should be called but the US localization kinda goofed it. That’s also why they are all separate cords from different beings(Mergo, Orphan of Kos, Arianne’s baby, and a past vileblood child) and the item picture has a whole cord visible.
I just discover this videos right now and I know they will be gold! I'm pretty sure they are a really awesome job. Really cool dude! I'll edit this when I finish the four videos.
Great video! Though I'm a bit surprised that, after connecting the Pthumerian's power with their affinity for fire, Maria's power over fire never got a connection. Since the Vilebloods seem to be revitalizing Pthumerian power through the forbidden blood, the fact that Maria can harness the lost art of fire magic in her battle showcases how she has reached their level of superhuman ability. She's even minding the slumbering Orphan of Kos so that he is not disturbed, like the Keepers of the Old Lords before her, truly reaching the companionship towards the Great Ones that had long since been lost.
1:47:08 not true Eileen's weapon the Blades of mercy are also forged with siderite and have been passed down from the hunter of hunter's before her meaning that every hunter of hunter's since the first has used a weapon forged with siderite.
Bro after the dark soul 1 and 3 ranking I start sharing for bloodborne version everywhere that to find absolutely no result then after few weeks this video pop out in my recommendation thank you for making it ❤❤
I disagree with some choices here, as well as some lore reasonings. For example, while it's true that Ebrietas is a real, proper Great One, her not being able to ascend to a higher plane should put her below Orphan and Amygdala, even if you accept that they're just manifestatons of the proper Great One per se (which, at least in the case of OoK I disagree. In japanese, "Orphan of Kos" not only means that, but it's a game of words with "Willpower of Kos", as it's basically the son carrying the will of his mother, basically being father and son at the same time, another example of christianism being an inspiration for BB). Even if you buy the theory that Orphan is just a manifestation of Kos real essence and power (which you shouldn't because then the "nightmare slain" text wouldn't appear), it would still be an amazing feature that just the mere manifestation of Kos' infant was enough to generate a new plane of existance that directly interferes with the waking world and basically serves as Hell for the hunters and the Church. Also, Ebrietas is not the origin of the old blood. The holy medium Alfred refers to is Laurence's skull. It's a way of saying that Laurence was the pioneer of blood ministration in Byrgenwerth and Yharnam. Ebrietas was discovered by the Choir, which chronologically comes after the Church's already created and Laurence dies. Also, Rom probably isnt a Byrgernwerth schollar. Her appeareance in Pthumeru and her Altar of Despair corpse seem to imply she was a kin in the dungeons, and was later found by Willem, who used her as a vessel for his ritual (and maybe that's when her real body died, and that's why Ebrietas, being her mother or something, mourns her?). Still, awesome vid as always. Keep the hard work, this is an amazing series.
Hey, great vid! I consider myself to be a Bloodborne lore expert so I'd like to chime in at a few places: 47:52 Here and other places, you lean into the theory that Oedon is the parent of Mergo, but imo there's really a lot more evidence that suggests it may actually be the Moon Presence. My favorite singular piece of evidence is the Hunter Runes in Yharnam's boss room. 1:11:52 Rom is a Great One; the trophy description, written by the developers, directly states so. This doesn't disqualify her from being kin as Ebrietas is also considered to be kin in-game. 1:19:46 I think it's implied that the "companionship" was between the Keepers *themselves* (their attire being a shared culture) and not so much with the Great Ones. The Japanese might also reaffirm this. 1:30:10 It's my opinion that Patches is also a member of the School of Mensis! 1:47:08 Eileen's Blades of Mercy are also siderite. 1:57:40 I'd like to challenge this as well -- I think the Amygdalae simply are just a species of Great Ones with a distinct individuals. I do subscribe to the theory that they reproduce via the Mensis Ritual. They destroyed Loran and nearly destroy Yharnam. 2:02:49 Finally again I'm skeptical about Mergo's parentage and really Oedon's role period. I dont want to get into much detail here, but I think I do lean toward the Moon Presence being the parent and Oedon being so far "ascended" that he's functionally irrelevant to the plot.
Loving everything about the video so far, but I feel bad for saying it kinda sounds like an AI wrote the script? "Father gascoigne, was from a distant land, his title too likely earned from this distant land, suggesting he was the leader of a religious order" That, sounds almost exactly like what AI would say if I asked it to describe father gascoigne
Love this video. For me, BSB has been the hardest enemy, so far, took me somewhere around 15-17 tries. I haven't completed the basegame (bout to fight the one reborn) & I know the DLC is gonna be harder but at least I'll be able to get the best weapons in there. I somehow beat the Shadows of Yarnham first try & with only taking a few hits & am still wondering how cuz that is just not me lol. I usually need a couple tries for bosses. Edit - these videos make me wanna do a playthrough with the ax. I really appreciate the distance it puts between you & the enemy.
The Kos Parasite description states that the carcass of Kos washed ashore, so she seemed to already be dead from something else. Plus, for all the grievances the Hamlet Fishers place on the hunters, they never say that they killed Kos, only that she is dead. Most likely the sin was massacring the village, desecrating them and Kos' corpse, and stealing her baby for experimentation.
I’m so glad you’re doing this man. Keep up the great work and I get wait for the Elden ring to come out especially cause I always se people debate who is the strongest!
The old blood is the one found in the in the chalise , the pterumian tomb , the bload that is used by the Church is taken by the decapitated head of Ludvig . The plage of old Yharnam was generated by the read moon approach , and the asched blood was generated probably by the ingection of bone marrow powder
I'm sure somebody has pointed this out to you so I apologize if this is redundant. But the bloodletting beast is Lawrence. Well his physical body at least in the waking world.
I kinda don’t think the one reborn should be placed this low. He should definitely be higher than vicar, clerics beast and some of the other bosses. I mean we even see a body of a cleric beast hanging in old yharnam. If the school of mensis really believed the one reborn to be that strong then it should certainly place higher than the cleric beast or vicar Amelia. It should place far higher than what you’ve shown. Also I hate that boss
I believe you overlooked one more detail that could’ve put Maria over Martyr Logarius and that’s the fact that Maria could use pyromancy. You stated in your video that the keeper of the old lords were one of the closest things to the great ones and that was due to their pyrokinetic abilities which were a lost art. Keeping this in mind, not only did Lady Maria have the teachings of Ghermin, the Bloodline of Cainhurst, she also had connections to an ancient art that links back to the roots of the great ones themselves. This also implies that Maria may have explored in the dungeons herself to learn such an ability.
i had this on in the background and the number of times i heard "pthumarians are superhuman in design and their physiology..." i swear i was suffering from major deja vu
You put the Celestial Emissary above Yharnam and the Pthumerian Elder and the Abhorrent beast? Nah, no way. Certainly, they have some cool abilities but they just don't stack up in terms of raw power. Obviously we're not going by in-game strength, but these things are notably weak and swarming, rather than powerful and singular. Maybe they have the potential to get stronger, but they are not at the point we fight them. I can see Rom being up there despite physical weakness as she displays incredible arcane power, both offensively and in terms of "holding back the moon", but the Emissary is just a living radar dish.
2:07:48 "The Choir... devoted to reaching out to the Cosmos through Ebrietas, something Ebrietas may have seen as a means to return to the plane of her own kind." Heheh. Bri-bri phone home.
The Blades of Mercy are also forged from Siderite. So Eileen would also be counted among hunters to use the material. Along with any other Hunter of Hunters that had used it before her.
I always figured both versions of the Bloodletting Beast are the same creature. You kill it once, but then it shows up later with the parasite controlling its corpse. It's sort of a first draft of the Guardian Ape from Sekiro
While I love the idea of the Lesser Amygdalae as aspects of the true Great One, I do think the one we kill in the boss battle is the "true" Amygdala. His Aspects survive him, but he is well and truly dead at the blade of the Good Hunter. I also don't believe that the Wetnurse is an _Aspect_ of Oedon so much as a _Servant_ of Oedon. She, like his child, has no form, which I believe to be a signifier of their clade/faction. She may carry his favor and even some of his power, but I believe she is a distinct entity. I say this because Amygdala's (aspects) form is only visible within the Nightmare of Mensis, or when you gain enough Insight to comprehend their form. Amygdala definitely seems to be on fairly decent terms with Oedon, watching over his Church and finding viable candidates for him to impregnate, as well as hosting a buffer-realm to give his child a greater degree of protection. They are clearly different beings, but with aligned goals(and a common enemy in the Moon Presence) and likely subservient to Oedon. I also think the Orphan of Kos is a distinct entity from Kos herself as well, being the stillbirthed child of Kos. As with all true children of Great Ones, it was doomed from conception. The thing we fight is its vengeful spirit, only able to take form within a Nightmare or Dream as its physical body was likely dissected by Byrgenworth. I do NOT disagree with any of the rankings of the above. Orphan is still an infant, albeit a powerful one. Wetnurse is an adult Great One that Oedon trusted enough with its child, and Amygdala is a faithful watcher and errand-boy with easy access to the Waking Realm.
The blood letting beast is in loran and the loran silver beasts in the nightmare if mensis have worms in them which explains why the blood letting veast only sometimes has a giant worm spring halfway out of its head
I love the range of strength between these enemies. Lol It goes from actual lowlives and degenerates to literal gods and horrors beyond mortal comprehension.

Keep the hard work, this is an amazing series.
your channel fucking rocks, i really enjoy you contextualizing the bosses like this
Hey, great vid! I consider myself to be a Bloodborne lore expert so I'd like to chime in at a few places:
47:52 Here and other places, you lean into the theory that Oedon is the parent of Mergo, but imo there's really a lot more evidence that suggests it may actually be the Moon Presence.
Seeing the notification for this made my day all the more better! Just know im putting off my nap for this! 😤 Thats how good your stuff is!
It’s incredible to see how much he obviously cares about the lore
One of the Best soulsborne youtubers up there with vatty and candle type 1a
Please keep doing this for all the souls games ❤
I'm glad you did this on a low spec build! I had worries that my pc wouldn't be able to handle it
Oh Shit, this was uploaded two weeks ago?! How did I miss it?! Can't wait to watch another amazing video of yours!
I like how because bloodborne is so mysterious you could genuinely make an argument that (almost) half these bosses are the strongest if you wanted to
Tremendous video. Really really good.
I also suspected that, also the fact that 70% of the thing that is saing are wrong make this very suspicius
Awesome video man.
cant wait to binge watch all of these
Love this video.
Ever since the other one I’ve been looking all over RUclips for this😂
I thought the old hunters killed kos, and then we come later and kill the orphan who was actually causing the nightmare....
Jeez, they should just let little stuff like that go after a little while
@@joshuareesor1756 ok that makes more sense
Excellent video, as always. Don't know how I feel about some random elderly pthumerian being ranked above legendary beings like Laurence.
Amazing and well done video! Subbed
I’m so glad you’re doing this man. Keep up the great work and I get wait for the Elden ring to come out especially cause I always se people debate who is the strongest!
Oh mate cracking video yet again absolutely love this channel well done mate
YIPPIE These are amazing
Oh thank God I actually got a noti for this video 🙏
Over the course of 3 days, I have watched all of the boss rank videos. Please do Sekiro next🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
The old blood is the one found in the in the chalise , the pterumian tomb , the bload that is used by the Church is taken by the decapitated head of Ludvig . The plage of old Yharnam was generated by the read moon approach , and the asched blood was generated probably by the ingection of bone marrow powder
A truly amazing video.. keep up yhe good work! Now I need to lose many hours watching the dark souls ones
Great video man. Although i dont agree with few of them, great explanation and depth. Subbed
Yes this is gonna be a great video 🎉🎉
I'm sure somebody has pointed this out to you so I apologize if this is redundant. But the bloodletting beast is Lawrence. Well his physical body at least in the waking world.
After a shitty day, seeing this will make me feel some happiness
Genuinely my pleasure!
I might be wrong, but the witches of hemwick were the first ones not underground to uncover the secrets of insight.
I actually learned some new things in this video. I don't remember the last time that happened with Bloodborne.
Bestiary cooking once again. Cant wait for the elden ring ranking will probably be a 6 hour video
Our eyes are blood of nightmare
i had this on in the background and the number of times i heard "pthumarians are superhuman in design and their physiology..." i swear i was suffering from major deja vu
I think the 3rd theory about the one reborn is the correct one. It was an attempt of creating a great one.
Oh he is back!
2:07:48 "The Choir... devoted to reaching out to the Cosmos through Ebrietas, something Ebrietas may have seen as a means to return to the plane of her own kind."
Heheh. Bri-bri phone home.
The Blades of Mercy are also forged from Siderite. So Eileen would also be counted among hunters to use the material. Along with any other Hunter of Hunters that had used it before her.
I'd like to point out that watchdogs of the old lords are literally hot dogs.
Fantastic my dude
Great video!
HWLL YEAHH love these videos
I always figured both versions of the Bloodletting Beast are the same creature. You kill it once, but then it shows up later with the parasite controlling its corpse. It's sort of a first draft of the Guardian Ape from Sekiro
Amazing video
Would you considering doing Soulslike games? The Surge and Lies of P come to mind.
Can’t wait for the Sekiro video 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 great vid btw
Underrated video
I love the range of strength between these enemies. Lol
It goes from actual lowlives and degenerates to literal gods and horrors beyond mortal comprehension.
