What a great episode!!! To me John Meston was the best writer on Gunsmoke. He addressed domestic violence and battered wife syndrome in this episode before people acknowledged any evidence of this in our modern day life!! Great foresight.

Great acting always by Conrad and others, always suprising to me how important voice is, unfortunately for Conrad he had a face for radio although eventually got on the small screen with Cannon

Marshall Dillon is constantly putting the wrong two people together.

There was nothing wrong with Marshall Dillon putting the two together. He just should have personally supervised the meeting.

Not as annoying as all those ads for L& M cigarettes.

Listening to these people, in contrast I'm not as slow witted as I thought no claim of being the brightest bulb on the circuit yet I do have better manners an a good deal more sense, that won't get me a Pulitzer prize but my self esteem has risen.

So we just going to ignore how Dillion just ignored the law when it came to Kitty or the old women.

U r right. Though, U could say he left her for broke by taking all $ and abandoning her . But shooting Miss Kitty's pillow would be attempted murder. Today's law would probably get her reduced charge under some duress state. Back then, US marshal might have had some field authority. Good point, though

Marriage was apparently as bad then as it is now; there is no escape.

Ha ha Ha! Depends who you marry, i reckon. Either way, it ain't worth it. Yeah, i know better grammar, just seems more appropriate.this way. 😁

@@granny13ad33 You are right, it depends on who you marry. But you are also wrong; it IS worth it if you marry the right person.
