Yeah man, it was! And then, very, very important for you to realise for the average one of you in the US - said from a European perspective - it would be to realise that this freedom is only one side of a coin. It is and has been made possible because others are and were living in mysery. We don't need to go back to slavery, that Europe was also king in it. It's enough to take the neoliberal "free" market as the best example.

I've detested the way the western world works ever since I was a small boy, I always hated the idea of getting some pointless job, but instead of finding an alternate path I just hid myself away from it all, now I fear it's too late to cultivate my talents and live with authenticity, I lost the connection to my soul a long time ago

      hello my friend,
when I read your words, I see myself. the way you express yourself, that profound honesty that deeply speaks to people, is something i'd call a talent.
Also before healing, you need to be conscious of what you are missing, which you are from what I read. So congratulations for the first steps!
Interestingly, you used the word 'fear', so I could image, you don't actually believe it's too late from the bottom of your heart, nor did you actually completely lost connection to your soul.
Fear is trying to keep us safe, which is a good thing. But when you are realising this fear is keeping you from growing, because, as a projection, it doesn't refer to any threat here and now, it may be time to overcome this particular fear, since you don't need it anymore. We are able to do it, but for that we have to try. It may just be about trying to make the next steps, even the smallest one, and be forgiving with yourself.
That way you could become able to forgive others too and maybe even this insane system, we're living in, and change it for the better. We need you to!
Keep on trying and take care my friend.

Stop your FEARING, and find out!
Your “soul” is your consciousness, and the fact that you are still thinking, wishing, dreaming & regretting, only proves that your soul is NOT disconnected! FEAR, is the only inhibitor in our consciousness (mind) that holds us back from stepping out & living life!
      Know FEAR, NO life.
      NO FEAR, KNOW LIFE!

When I quit my job everyone was assuming I did it because there was a job in line that pays even better. I made it very clear that I have no new job and rather just decided to stop doing this job. Sometimes you need to do that to give yourself some space and time to find out what you're gonna do next. Sometimes you really don't know how to move forward and have faith to stop doing what is wrong and unauthentic first. I reduced all my liabilities to a minimum before so I was able to survive with very little money.

The problem with this, and I ask myself every day, is that at the end of the day you will need the money because if you don't, you won't be able to eat. and if you have the money that implies that someone gave it to you and that person had to work to have it. it takes a lot of guilt casting to live on someone else's money. and, if you decide to live on what you like without borrowing money, you will always have something to do that you don't like, at least four hours a day. That is why I consider this thought attractive and romantic, but it is almost as difficult to do it as working a normal job that one does not like so much. An alternative view is to take jobs as adventures of a few months, rotate as much as possible so as not to get bored, learn as many things as possible and meet as many people as possible. like an actor playing different roles
I find this more interesting than staying for many years in one job. and perhaps, in the wheel of life and within the movement, an unexpected opportunity appears that changes our destiny.

    • @samhailess
      @samhailess Год назад +22

That last bit about playing roles and trying things resonates with me. Graduating next year with a philosophy degree, and have no interest in any kind of career. I want adventure and I suppose that's the way to find it unless you're born into wealth.

I like your thinking and resonate with your doubts too. If you seek as a first priority to find yourself whole heartedly, a right earning will come to you. In the mean time do as you have indicated, various jobs, all the while seeking to find yourself, making earning a living just a side note to your life. What they're Really shooting down here are not the bread and butter jobs that put food on the table, like loading fish on a ship, but rather the 'Ambition' that people chase in the name of earning a living. That of course is a waste of time and energy and a true joy stealer. Best wishes.🙏🏾

    • @S5000Krad
      @S5000Krad Год назад

      That's just your projection.
I look at it like this.
If I'm wealthy, people around me would not have to work at all. There wouldn't be any guilt that they live on my expense. It's just a stupid mindset to have.
And same way the other way. If they already work for years, and have some money, I will gladly take it so I can eat. I'm giving them an opportunity to share. Especially when eating is the question.
What is so stupid to me is having to work in order to eat in this day and age.
Plus most people work for something else. They spend the least amount of money on food. Eating junk. So the priorities are clear.
Plus there's so many people with money, working or not, that don't know what to do with it.
On top of that there are more people than jobs out there. So some people are bound not to work.
Babies don't work either. And that's considered appropriate. Why would it be any different for adults? Are they not worthy for some reason?
It's just a stupid morality thing. Fake morality. Like you should feel ashamed that you live on someone's expense.
But most people don't have the same opportunities in life. Some people can only have the worst job possible. So what you're saying is that those people should waste their lives on jobs that don't pay well, and jobs that aren't fulfilling. Because the priority should be to not live on someone's expense. Because of some supposed guilt.

Falun Gong is a practice leading to enlightenment. We do not stop working, eating, having a family but we do practice truthfulness-compassion-tolerance in society, which is much more difficult but much more worthwhile than leaving society.

    • @S5000Krad
      @S5000Krad Год назад +7

@@jeffforsythe9514 not sure if you replied to me.
What if you don't start working? How can you then stop working? And why stop not working?
Also tolerance is ugly. Acceptance is what you want. To tolerate someone is to create a hostile environment. It's better to not accept something or somebody, than to tolerate it.
By tolerating, you are just making a compromise. Which is again not something I would promote.
And if you reach a higher state of awareness, by default you aren't a part of society anymore. Society consists of people asleep. If you're aware, there's no way to be a part of it.
And when you look at who leads society, and what society does, it's clear as day, that those leaders aren't aware. People not rebelling massively also indicates, that majority is not aware. Because if they were, they would rebel by now million times. But that doesn't happen on a large scale ever. They get manipulated in going to wars, fighting others like them. While the real enemy and threat is instigating that war.
So what you basically have is civilians of one nation fighting against civilians of another nation. While those civilians from both nations, are getting screwed over by their government. And that's society pretty much.

My peace is gone. I have a hard time sleeping. I hardly see my friends. Barely get to do my music. If the rest of my life is going to be like this, it really aint worth living IMO. This is a noble idea for sure. As an artist myself it's something I really wanted to achieve - to follow my passion and make a living from it. Here's my issue however. I worked self employed as an artist for almost fifteen years and was able to work with numerous galleries in various countries which was great. People always said to me "that's great, you're your own boss and you do something you love doing". On one hand that was true but on another there are problems with that. trying to earn a consistent living every month was incredibly dificult. Over time I started altering my style to suit what I saw as the requirements of the market - To find a way to make my work more commercially appealing so I could sell more work and hopefully make more consistent money. That just made me miserable because more and more I was wasn't making the art I wanted to and the financial struggles still dominated my life which in turn was stressful. Over time my mental health got worse and worse my self confidence plummeted and my art suffered. I eventually reached the realisation that I would probably have to get a regular day job, at least part time and do the art part time. This actually really helped me. It took away some of the financial pressure which relieved some of the stress. Without going on too much more I will just say: putting all your eggs in one basket is not necessarily the right way to go. Everyone's circumstances are different but it doesn't hurt to have a back up plan.

My wife complaints that my work hasn't a lot of money and i should do something else but this is what i studied what i love to do . Of course she can't understand , she can 't understand how you can be rich with few if you are present in the moment and realize what you have and how to enjoy this present . I think this vanity of always wanting something better something more along with the fear that narrow minds create is what keeps humanity from evolving to its true potential . Nice and romantic ideas - some people will pull it off, which is awesome but most will not b/c you have to have money to eat / have shelter. And solely pursuing a passion while barely being able to eat and having to live in total shit, can definitely bring a lot of unhappiness - potentially more unhappiness that will cancel out the happiness from doing what you like. Best idea is probably a balance - trying to find what you enjoy / quite interested in and then get a job in that field or start a business around it..

Alan Watts is so wise. I know so many people who are working for a living to live a life of working in jobs they hate! I don't have much money but I'm happy. Does anybody know who the guy is who said "I may live badly but at least I don't have to work to do it"? I love that when he walks off there is a Subway in shot. I worked for a Subway franchise when I was a student and everyday when I went to work I thought to myself "you're working for Satan, you know that right?!"

I hate that accounting is always presented in these videos as soul-sucking, mind-numbing work, when it can be much more easy on an individual than jobs that require you to be creative but in a very specific way and with short deadlines, which can actually leave you completely apathetic to your work in the long run, especially if you are a creative person. I find that for a creative like myself, I much prefer a boring, easy job with financial security, so that I can unleash my creativity in my free time with no constraints.

If you have some grass and leaves you can raise meat rabbits as well. There you go, now you just have to be able to build your own shelter or park an RV or mobile home on the property.

You should never be here too much; be so far away that they can’t find you, they can’t get at you to shape, to mould.
Be so far away, like the mountains, like the unpolluted air; be so far away that you have no parents, no relations, no family, no country; be so far away that you don’t know even where you are.
Don’t let them find you; don’t come into contact with them too closely.
Keep far away where even you can’t find yourself; keep a distance which can never be crossed over; keep a passage open always through which no one can come.
Don’t shut the door for there is no door, only an open, endless passage; if you shut any door, they will be very close to you, then you are lost.
Keep far away where their breath can’t reach you and their breath travels very far and very deeply; don’t get contaminated by them, by their word, by their gesture, by their great knowledge; they have great knowledge but be far away from them where even you cannot find yourself.
For they are waiting for you, at every corner, in every house to shape you, to mould you, to tear you to pieces and then put you together in their own image.
Their gods, the little ones and the big ones, are the images of themselves, carved by their own mind or by their own hands.
They are waiting for you, the churchman and the Communist, the believer and the non-believer, for they are both the same; they think they are different but they are not for they both brainwash you, till you are of them, till you repeat their words, till you worship their saints, the ancient and the recent; they have armies for their gods and for their countries and they are experts in killing.
Keep far away but they are waiting for you, the educator and the businessman; one trains you for the others to conform to the demands of their society, which is a deadly thing.
They have a thing called society and family: these two are their real gods, the net in which you will be entangled.
They will make you into a scientist, into an engineer, into an expert of almost anything from cooking to architecture to philosophy.
Keep far, far away; they are waiting for you, the politician and the reformer; the one drags you down into the gutter and then the other reforms you; they juggle with words and you will be lost in their wilderness.
Keep far away; they are waiting for you, the experts in God and the bomb throwers: the one will convince you and the other show you how to kill; there are so many ways to find God and so many, many ways to kill.
But besides all these, there are hoards of others to tell you what to do and what not to do; keep away from all of them, so far away that you cannot find yourself or any other.
You too would like to play with all of them who are waiting for you but then the play becomes so complicated and entertaining that you will be lost.
You should never be here too much, be so far away that even you cannot find yourself.

The message of Watts it's true, and he is right, but society does not allow it. You can't survive without money, simple as that. The only way is to have a job on the side, that can give you enough peace of mind for you to become a master in some other field. The job you have however needs to leave you energy for the other half of the day, and also to be a
of a reasonable schedule. This is the only way, unless you are born rich or with connections in the family. Once you become a master then you have a chance to make it if you are lucky,

Tricky. If everyone followed this approach then all the things of modern society that we take for granted would disappear. A type of collapse. We all rely on people doing shit jobs even if we don't do one and loath the idea of it all. Hating it all but still wanting wanting luxuries, gadgets and what not, it is hypocrisy. I think what we dislike is the unfair amount of work one must do just to pay for the basics of life, which is a type of slavery.

yes and no. a lot of the shit jobs that people do are completely and utterly valueless to society. they are just there to keep us busy. check out the book Bull Shit Jobs by David Graeber, its both shocking and completely unsurprising. With the amount of labor time that could be freed had we rid ourselves of those jobs, work would be much more manageable with much fewer hours. imagine if everyone could work jobs that provide a living, on a part time basis, or even less. this isn't that inconceivable. additionally, many of the luxuries that we want are also kinda pointless. a new iphone every year? really? is that necessary? achieving happiness through consumption of such luxuries is a chimera.

I have heard this message so many times but I really don't believe it's doable. I just took a second job and the life I want to live cost money and I don't even have nearly enough to even live it.

If you want health, happiness and bliss (through meditation), fresh organic food from your back yard, and quality time with loved ones, it costs nothing. Maybe a few seeds.

It's okay. You are just an incredibly sensitive human being. I know it seems hard now, people often fear what they don't understand.
Try to remain stable. Eat very healthy food (no sugar if you can stand it). 😉
Not only will you find your equilibrium, at time you'll learn the path that is right for you.
Just the fact you're here indicates that you are a seeker. It may be lonely - but I can guarantee you your life will become something extraordinary!
Take Care and God Bless .. ❤️💚💛
Edit: By the way, you are perfectly entitled to receive social support. The system has been put in place to help people while they heal.
It's easy to say not to care what others think, but you are the one growing spiritually and thus are an asset to the planet!
Remember your self worth, but remain humble about it too. 🙏

The obviouse answer to this is balance. I want to snowboard all day. But i generally can only go two weeks of the year. I bet my life if i was snowboarding every day i wold hate it.
Dont work to hard but dont become a dream chaser. Balance is key. You need to feel bad to know what good even feels like

Im a painter and actor not fit to work in an office environment. I know change will come

Another way to look at it is: do not let money erode your values. This might be hard because we are constantly been psyched to place value on things we don’t value- but when you do find it, stick with it and reconfigure your life around it. Do not fall for the number value of goods. Then money will follow suit and it will bring meaning along with it.

I’m in healthcare, and many jobs in the hospital work this way where people are rewarded for doing things that will help the hospital profit more, at the expense of the patient’s well being. So you see the conundrum in our health care system? The workers are rewarded for doing things that will make the patient experience worse. And we’re talking about matters of life and death, and patients going through their hardest times

    • @indira.creates
      @indira.creates Год назад

@@shamannoodle5503 thanks for sharing. Healthcare in the US, I’m assuming. They are setup to profit off of patients being sick means there’s an inherent imbalance of interests. Patients staying longer, taking more tests, more expert opinions, more pills, even when it’s not necessarily in the patients best interest…. I understand.
We are sadly at this stage where profitability is valued more than basic human decency.
There are endless ways out even as hopeless as it seems sometimes. Talking with like minded people(with similar values) and having meaningful conversations would be a good starting point.
