I've got to say the way these test are popping up regular with people we wouldn't think would, means it may not be past the realms that there could be an issue with the tests. However it still may not be that....time will tell
One of the issues is that there are so many drugs on the banned drugs list that frankly aren't performance enhancing and are present in the food chain naturally (or simply in common use in food production) you have a chance of getting lots of positive tests through things that are either false positives or are genuine fails but done inadvertently by the fighter / trainer / nutritionist falling foul of something they simply didn't know about.
The policy in drug testing and its been this way since the early 90's is "if in doubt ban it", no evidence that something is performance enhancing is required just a view that if they don't know why you'd take that or that's present in you system inexplicably then ban it.
To be fair this condition has been created out of desperation by the drug testing and athletics bodies, drug cheating so rife in the 80's and early 90's they had to do something but it is a bit of a sledge hammer to crack a nut.
I agree was a bit dubious anyway but having heard hellanious talk about the repercussions of doping in his country I find it very difficult to believe he is guilty i suspect it may be a food issue

We know what clomiphene is used for. There’s no contamination. You’re promoting a bunch of fighters who know there’s little consequence if they get caught and that rather than condemning drug use in the sport, you’ll justify and excuse.

I definitely support the increased testing. The matchroom position is a little confusing though. They are increasing the testing whilst undermining the validity of the results. Everytime there is a failed test eddie presents it like there is a good chance the person is innocent. He also partually bought into the claim that VADA did something wrong with Benns test.

Re. Helenius contamination... its very simple. Since the UK stopped checking food imports post-Brexit we have been getting tainted subpar produce entering the country. I work close to the industry, its a real problem.
What happens with football drug testing? We never hear of any footballers getting bans, are the same substances banned across all sports?

If there is an issue with substances coming up due to contamination, take a random sample of average joe’s and you’d expect to see some traces. Cheats are at it out of camp to be stronger fitter etc in advance. Be wary of inactive fighters or fighters who fight once or twice a year. They’re the worst culprits to clear cycles. Fighters whose training camps are outside the country or state they fight at are also suspicious as the testing agencies can’t afford the frequent travel/expenses. Unfortunately for heavies they get caught more than smaller fighters because they’re big men so traces get found.
If Smith wins, why not do Smith-Benn and Brook-Eubank Jr.
