i cant understand why they think that album wasnt good enough. these songs have a power which are increasing feelings and dragging you into deep thoughts.
I used to listen to this album A LOT when going to college in 2012. I was broke, really broke. I had to walk like 1 1\2 to get to college, and while doing so, I listened to this album over and over; hard times, good music though.
Yes. I was in college then as well and was struggling with a lot. This helped me get through some of the toughest times of my life. Hope you are doing better now, brother.

Battle Born is probably the best album the Killers have done that shows a wide range for music that they have done from the previous albums but this one is very underrated by everyone and even they said they felt it was not that great, but songs like this prove otherwise.
I just revisited Battle Born, 2 years after I bought the album and until this last weeks I just listened this song carefully and I have to say. This us the best and most underrated song in the album. I even remember that, the last time they came to Mexico, this was the last song they played at Foro Sol and I was disappointed that it wasn't "Flesh and Bone". Now, I can say that this one of the most epic songs I've ever listened.

I feel many interpretations of the song could be made, working mother/father, bullying, among others. But i believe it is about not giving up, no matter how much you fall or feel things are going to hell. There is hope as long as you can keep fighting because once you have walked a lot through life, you will realize that it was not in vain.
In my opinion, I feel the band has put all of their effort into this album, it is just so amazing, my second favorite album. But I just find it horrible when people hate on it because they worked so hard, but everyone can like what they want, it's just the tremendous amount of effort this album holds is too much to say it is their worst.

And did they cause your soul to mourn Remember what I said Boy you was battle born Cause you can't stop now" Now, repeat it every moment you have. Cuz' you are Battle Born!!

@@davimelo9181 That's true. This song has a deeper and more meaningful message. Would be nice if this song had a video of a young man taking a beating by life and persevering.
I like how part of their songs have an "old school" sound, something I would have expected to hear before the 2000s. Usually, new songs with "old" sound are... Rubbish. Boring. Tasteless and don't give me any emotions. But this... This is special and I can't stop listening to it. Great job, Killers ;)

Everytime I listen to this album it cheers me up and I feel at peace...it was the first CD I ever bought for myself and I do not regret it one bit, this album is perfect!
Honestly, I think the mood of Brandon Flower's writing is to some extent influenced by his origins (like Springsteen, incidentally) in or near a major gambling town. The sweeping romanticism of chance and fortune lend a grandiose tone to the songs, while the combination of precise, almost harsh realism and the desperate, naïve optimism of luck tinge every song with pathos, longing, hope, and regret.
yes that's why I got annoyed when reviews said the Battleborn was full of bombast like if it was a bad thing..and the honest lyrics. I feel like everyone carries a part of their home with them and I find it lovely.
Exactly. I think the album was very real to Brandon because it carries so much of who he is and where he's from. And that's what makes art relatable, you know? It doesn't necessarily have to be about your own life or experiences, but it isn't real to the author, it won't come out as real to the listener. And yes, the honest lyrics. I really think Brandon is one of the best songwriters of our era.
