Simply run UnrealEd.exe and you're good to go! I run it in Windows 11, not even using a compatibility mode. Editor runs fine with software rendering. I noticed 2 small issues: 1) mouse input somehow performs a 'jump' across the screen every 2-3 minutes, so you may get your stuff moved in an undesired way; 2) the editor seems to not be able to update its config files, so stuff like viewports layout or a list of recently opened maps will not get saved properly (running as admin doesn't help).
@@CharonPL The mouse jumping isn't a small issue imo. It is extremely annoying when working on high detail maps. I recommend getting the latest patch since it incorporates Unreal's 227 UEd2.2 and fixes those issues.
Thank you! The layout is not completed yet, I would say 60% is defined. Many iterations to come on what's "done". There's no area for a shieldbelt and I need to make sure there's enough locations to place all weapons.
Из-за того, что гайды по Unreal Engine часто помечают как видео по Unreal 1998, иногда мне в рекомендациях попадаются видео по Unreal: Tournament 1999. А я и не против! Отличная игра, хоть я и играл в неё довольно мало.
That's why I started to use hashtags, so people can take a quick look to see it's UT99 without even paying too much of an attention to read through the whole description :D
I wouldn't go as far as claiming this game is free now, but the reality is many people assumed it's classified as abandonware since Epic delisted entire Unreal and Unreal Tournament franchises from all digital stores and disabled their master servers. Sadly, there's no way to obtain the game in a legal way other than getting some extremely overpriced digital keys or retail copies. No matter how awful it looks from Epic's end, I still hope they're up for something special on the game's 25th Release Anniversary on November and I hope including the game in the upcoming Secret Level show from Amazon Prime is not a one-off gig.
Dude, how do you make it work without mouse lag and with the right screen ratio? i wish i could play this since win 7 and never could make it since them.
I keep the same config around for over 15 years by now and I never had issues running the game on Windows 7. I have some small issues now when running on Windows 11, but I'm still generally impressed by how both the game and the editor function on modern operating systems and hardware. My UT99 installation is based on 436 patch, so pretty much the default you would get from digital stores when the game was still available to buy. The only thing different from retail that I keep is a custom renderer, D3D9Drv by Chris Dohnal. I keep the same installation around for almost 20 years and it serves me well on a third operating system (XP -> 7 -> 11). Of course, getting the OldUnreal's patch 469d should solve any issues on modern hardware/software, but I never had a need to get it installed. Be aware it replaces UnrealEd 2.0 with unofficial version 2.2 delivered by some amazing community members. www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/ unrealarchive.org/unreal-tournament/patches-updates/patches/patch-469d/index.html
Neat, haven't messed around with the Unreal Ed in a while, kind of curious how to get the Editor working in windows 10/11.

I like the layout, but I'd have to play it with you to see if it's fun!
Thank you!
