Why? Because last time the US refused to involve itself in the world we had the deadliest war of all time-WWII. US leadership is needed. You wouldn't be more safe without US intervention, you would be less safe. It is an all volunteer force and none of us is shirking from our duty abroad. The US protects the liberties at home by defending abroad. It is much cheaper than a larger series of wars. Yes, we have lost American treasure, and some wars might have been ill advised but we need to remain engaged. It is a slow process. Sometimes it doesn't work the way we would like. The enemy gets a vote, and so do individuals, governments, and a countless number of interactions. But we shouldn't do things only because their easy but because they are the right thing to do.
