My dad had to switch to rooting for the Mets after being a Brooklyn Dodger fan growing up. And he was delighted every time he saw Marvelous Marv Throneberry in these commercials.
Lee Meredith. She had plenty of supporting roles in movies. She and Mickey Spillane (the guy in the suit) wrote several Lite-Beer-from-Miller commercials.
Those commercials were great. The one's with Joe Piscapo were particularly hilarious. I remember them well from my teenage years. The beer itself however is total crap.
Exactly why is it sexist? Because there's no pushy women in the commercial? Because a group of men see a woman and find her attractive? Nothing sexist here. Just comes from an era where male jocks were in a beer commercial and women didn't act like they knew more about sports than men do.
I miss those old Miller Lite adds. Some of the best ever.
This commercial is a certified CLASSIC
That folks. Is a REAL beer commercial should be like,
Dated as can be.
@@kendallevans4079 Yes, it is.
Boom!
@@kendallevans4079And funny as can be.

RIP Dick Butkus ❤
With the exception of Matt Snell, I think all the other guys in this spot are gone now.
I knew Mickey Spillane. He was in my congregation in Murrells Inlet.
LOVE the commercials!!!
Thanks for tuning in. =)

I was a mets fan in 1962- I remember Marvelous Marv- R.I.P.

He was a folk hero for Mets fans in those early years, for sure.
Classic!

Billy Martin for the win.
Bubba Smith!!
When men could enjoy flavored water.
I was watching an old episode of Married with children and the question came up. Looks like they were both right. Billy Martin and Bubba Smith.
Great commercial
I love when they say to Nick Buoniconti - who are you? Lol! He was the leader for the undefeated Dolphins defense called “The no name defense!” 😂
I love this ad I was just a baby in 1977
I quit drinking in 1977...Stock in the Miller Brewing Company took a nosedive...🤐
I was in high school and drinking underage. This is my beer just like Castrol oil. From the beginning
Nice🤣🤣
Nick Buoniconti headed the No Name Defense with the Dolphins. My father remembered him at Notre Dame.
All of these commercials were classics.
If anyone in this commercial still alive? I know the bowling tournament they did in 1983, all but 2 were passed away.
The sad thing is almost all these guys are gone now😢
Was that Divk Butkus with a perm?
😊
Is that Henny Youngman?
Who is the guy at the end?
I'm pretty sure that's Marvelous Marv Throneberry.
"Marvelous Marv" Throneberry. Famous as an inept baseball player. Once hit a triple, but was called out for failing to touch 1st AND 2nd base.
😅 worse than Uecker? @@Tyrunner0097😅
Is that Mickey Spillane?
Yup!
