You just made me feel very old. I was 14 when I first played this in the arcades in 1982. I also had it on my psp and I have it on my ps4 now. I have got to level 51,but after over 40 years of it I should be good. I still think it is one of the greatest arcade games. It is certainly in my top 20 all time favourites. I am pleased to see other generations enjoying it as much as I do.
What about Super Mario Brothers? You could fall over the ledge. Gotten eaten by one of those green monsters. Getting sucked into that pool on the fish level. Getting hit with the hammers.
@matthewjahnke6956 it's possible he doesn't think she's very popular but if I had to guess she's pretty comparable to dig dug. A lot of people dont know either
First time I played this game was back in the 1980s at Cedar Point in Ohio. It was in a building in the center of the campground for campers and trailers. It was either in 1983 or 84 or possibly 1982 when the game was first released. The cabinet was basically brand new.
lol good lord. I tried to play this on an arcade machine last week and never got past Level 5. I never had more than one life once I got there. I just couldn't get their routines quite yet, nor control the guy well.
I only played this game a couple of times in the 80's. I much preferred Mr Do! over Dig Dug because you got to pick cherries, use big apples instead of rocks, got to use your power ball instead of an air pump, and got an extra life by defeating Alphamonsters with a single letter that eventually spells EXTRA.
A laundromat that I have had both games in that place and I liked them both equally. Also, the SNES/NSFC got a pretty good home port of Mr. Do! as well.
So what are we doing here, we are inflating our adversaries with some kind of pump, until they burst? 🤣 why a pump? Has anyone ever defeated any creature in this fashion in all of human history ?! (I guess it makes a little bit more sense than BurgerTime 🍔)

Which is why you dont stop moving

Same here. That's what's odd about the Atari 5200 ver, you can stand still and the music keeps going. They didn't fool me!
