    Jerry is doing great, I am also 60 and ride an older mod sled 2011 RMK with a K-Mod skid, Raptor shocks, HM turbo with intercooler in the tunnel & Vipec stand alone ECU. I also struggle in the rutts with the turbo, it's a handful to ride with boost in the rutts. My first trip to the mountains was 1989 when we bolted 1.5 inch plastic paddles onto our 121 or 136 tracks, riding 500 & 600 cc sleds. There were a lot of stucks. Sleds have come along way. I have always said that when an OEM can build a light weight 400 lb sled, with a Naturally Aspirated 220 HP motor, then this will be an almost perfect sled setup. Great video Matt, rare to get blue bird skies like that in Dec or Jan. I love the 360 camera & the drone footage, I also enjoy when you show some of the bad Stucks and what it takes to get out, most people don't realize how long it takes to get out of a tree well when you get sucked in.

  • @mountain.sledder
    @mountain.sledder 2 дня назад

    Shortening the limiter strap makes a huge difference when you're climbing, keeps the front end planted for climbing if it's steep or deep.

    • @thatguyzack5093
      @thatguyzack5093 2 дня назад

      It helps keep ski's down, yes. But I've found that running it in the long position on deep days helps me climb better (with a short tunnel) as it helps me climb up on top of the snow rather than submarine the sled down into it. I find I get more stucks from submarining now with the limiter strap short than I do from trenching with it long.

    • @mountain.sledder
      @mountain.sledder 2 дня назад

      @thatguyzack5093 Easier to turn out of a climb in agile with the limiter strap long. But it would do the opposite of help climbing in deep snow. Longer limiter strap would bring the rear of your track closer to the tunnel and your tunnel would drag on the snow. Which is why if you break a limiter strap your track will scrape on the tunnel.
      It'll wheelie and trench in both positions regardless. All it does is change your ski to track angle. Precision keeps your ski's and track parallel. Agile allows it to wheelie faster because you have that little bit of ski lift momentum. Great for doing hop overs or bowties.

    17:50 I know it’s pretty basic common sense, but knowing when to call a run like he did is a good skill to have, and it just comes with experience. Within the first 100 feet of a climb you should have a general idea of if you are going to make it or not, and that just comes naturally with seat time on the sled, saves you a lot of digging and rolling when you bury it lol. Or worse if it’s a gnarly climb
