This reminds me of the endless 1980s night clubs dancing. Especially as a student. The smell of the dry ice 'smoke', the green lasers, the feeling of fear going to chat up a girl, the alcohol, the cigarette smoke, the level of loud music, and the way the dancing crowd would move en masse. Such an amazing time, we just never realised it, we thought it would last for ever....
Every ERA has an end. But remember the good times and compair them to today's teenagers life, the gap is huge & not saying that because im 50 but because quality and spontaneity was the feeling of 80's & 90's. You woke up every morning with the feeling that something great is going to happen....
A very sad song. The rejection from his father. the love of his mother. Very atmospheric and a hard hitting message. Accept who you are, and accept who others are.
He was pretty much being a pervert on a straight guy at a pool, he was a sexual pervert. Why do people now always protect and feel sorry for the deviant rather than the victim
I grew up in the 1970's and 80's in a small town in the Canadian prairies. I knew gay people, but no one could ever reveal that aspect of their life. I had an older brother who was autistic and everyone was so cruel to him, bullying him constantly. The one person who stook up for him was the principal of the elementary school. My parents knew the principal was gay, and he was allowed to be himself in our home. He could empathize with my brother. Neither was considered normal. Both were hated. Neither did anything to deserve it. Neither understood the hatred they faced. They felt it every day. The principal's partner died suddenly one day, and that poor man had to grieve in silence and without showing emotion. Eventually he left our town, never to return, his heart broken in half. This song always reminds me of him.
So sad. I met a Canadian bird n moved to Stoon, back home in London now. Sone fellas ain’t travelled out there tiny town there. That said, clubs n all sir now. Ain’t no Vegas but being gay looked more open. Small progress.

When this song came out there was no Internet or anything, I didnt know the video was a young guy on a train. But I remember listening to this song on my Sony Walkman, on the train to London, on my own for the first time to go and see if I coukd find any other gay people, go to a gay bar for the first time and discover myself. I was terrified but excited. Songs like this helped me believe, and cope. It was the beginning of my gay life and an amazing adventure. Hearing this song still takes me back to thst train journey to London, I even remember which seat I had. Now I feel my journey is coming to an end. And I'm so sad about it. what a song... both lyrics and melody - sad and uplifting at the same time - they invoke an emotion but also tell a story. and the video totally fits and is also amazingly well done - down to earth visual language helps one to identify with characters, and it tells a whole (back)story in under 5 minutes. sometimes it all just comes together.
Lyrics : You leave in the morning With everything you own In a little black case Alone on a platform The wind and the rain On a sad and lonely face Mother will never understand Why you had to leave But the answers you seek Will never be found at home The love that you need Will never be found at home Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away Pushed around and kicked around Always a lonely boy You were the one That they'd talk about around town As they put you down And as hard as they would try They'd hurt to make you cry But you never cried to them Just to your soul No you never cried to them Just to your soul Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away Cry, boy, cry You leave in the morning With everything you own In a little black case Alone on a platform The wind and the rain On a sad and lonely face Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away

This song that saw me leaving my small town and heading for the big city in the 80s - It was probably the most important song in my life for it still makes me very emotional - It was a call to arms for so many as it inspired them to become whoever they needed to be in a world that could be very cruel. Lyrics : You leave in the morning
With everything you own
In a little black case
Alone on a platform
The wind and the rain
On a sad and lonely face
Mother will never understand
Why you had to leave
But the answers you seek
Will never be found at home
The love that you need
Will never be found at home
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away
Pushed around and kicked around
Always a lonely boy
You were the one
That they'd talk about around town
As they put you down
And as hard as they would try
They'd hurt to make you cry
But you never cried to them
Just to your soul
No you never cried to them
Just to your soul
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away
Cry, boy, cry
You leave in the morning
With everything you own
In a little black case
Alone on a platform
The wind and the rain
On a sad and lonely face
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away
The music is always a call to arms babes xx
Excellent, thanks.

When music was still good. I miss the 80’s
Me too and unfortunately they're not coming back.
This was well played in the clubs in Philly in the 80’s
I so love this song! Awwwww I’m young again. We had amazing music back then!! This is Brilliant!! Love BB!
I heard this when it was first released...my best friend was gay and we really loved each other...but I'm a girl, so that wasn't in our cards, and so when I listen to this, it reminds me of that special time and very unique relationship 💜
Joderrrrr..... la música de los 80 es una belleza tantos temas buenísimos q no paro de contar sin duda la época más grande de la musica
I love the music. 👍🙋♀️♥️

Literal, son temas muy relajantes para variar
The notes this guy can hit is incredible
Such a sad beautiful song of past years. We take so much for granted. This melody . The harmonics. Spot on

it sounds even better and fresh now. coming from a kid in his mid 20s 🤙
Absolutely brilliant
you re right - it s of it s time .. but hence it reflects it s time ... indeed!
memories, freedom, the music was awesome, staying out all night dancing until 3 am on Saturday, sometimes Friday too, meeting cute boys, dressing up in cute clothes, lived at home with my parents and i didnt have to worry about bills.
Who's listening to this masterpiece in 26 may 2024

Moved out at 19 ! This song says it all! One of my 10 top favs forever!!!
Out at 18...paid my way ever since...my birthday is today...I'm 62.
This is a very unique song, music, lyrics, and instrumentation. The 1980's were the absolute BEST era for the music industry. **(Former Record Producer for Robert Stigwood Records,Inc.)**
I was raised in the same housing scheme as Jimmy Summerville (Ruchill, Glasgow) & this song reminds me of the struggle he went through being gay & I take my hat of to him. "Go on son"
Yess agree
You can feel his pain ... Awesome song
This song will be played in the next 40 years classic brings back alot of memory's from the 80s
I have to play this loud... wakes up my soul!!!! Love it ❤💕💓
This blew me away when I first heard it in 1984.
Superb for the time
One of the best songs ever written, performed and produced... period.
I was 14 when this came out. So many good memories. The world was so much better back then.
Amo muito essa música umas das melhores músicas que já ouvi nesta vida, me dá viajar
I was 8 listening to this song for the first time. I liked the beat, the voice, all of it. It took me years to understand what this song really was about. And i love it
Same here, DOB 1979 as a kid from Stranraer
Purely hypnotic gotta dance to it every time. Gotta just love it ...
So agree 💃
Great track. Maybe the best keyboard riff in pop history.
What a tune still get goose bumps listen to it every sat
As a straight teenager in the 80's, I guess there was a total lack of understanding and empathy towards people who were different and thankfully the world has changed, in alot of places anyway, to remove hate - brilliant tune
I’ve still got the 12” Vinyl
Absolutely brilliant SONG
A melhor época da minha vida anos 80.....

O, this one is gold❤ So beautiful and sad💔
Going from left to right but not sitting in moving direction. From the first seconds, this video makes the history. Incredibly well done. I saw it at 14 without paying attention. Now, I am 52 ans I realize how it was visionary.
Credo la piu bella canzone che ho ascoltato nella mia vita !!! A 53 anni ancora mi da i brividi !!!
One of the best song ever, amazing and nostalgic!!! Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷 🏆
A story of buggery and heartache. Genius. Wow.

Some tracks have more significance than others though...Ah memories.
amazing song i play it everyday just puts me in a good mood!😇
Fortunately I am completely unfamiliar with the angst that the lyrics speak of, I just think it’s a great song 😊
Ditto! 😊
Absolutely brilliant song 1984
Dorastalem przy tej piosence w latach 80, piękne wspomnienia młodości i klimatu tamtych lat, samo życie , świetny utwór i clip.
Marvelous liricks...

Jimmy Sommerville a beautifull voice
Best song of the 80's and Jimmy and his pals are within great competition!
