That rant at 1:25:01 might be the funniest thing I have seen all month.
Its really a good AND chill build. It may not be fancy but it is pretty chill and that is pretty cool.
He's right. I zoomed through the DLC in two days using his build. Shield and spear makes everything much easier.
Came here to say this too, his build is solid in pretty much every scenario. Pve it strolls through the game and few things are scarier in pvp than shield pokers, Mr.9 can't catch a break sometimes lol
It's moments like these that I'm happy Day9 exist. His personality is the shot in the arm to cure a rainy day.
It felt like a political speech! you do still have it...glad I came back to watch you again after many years apart!
Day9's dedication to shield and poke helped inspire my second playthrough of the DLC! ;)
It's a great build. Shields are fun. Spear and shield are the classic combo used by warriors throughout history. It's overpowered in real life as well.
@@thomascheckie2394 specially if the shield is a giant tomb stone
It’s definitely one of the most effective builds for the dlc, albeit a tad uninvolving compared to some other play styles
The dedication to the soreseal on a level 185 character is so funny.
Taking notes on this brick with a stick build to overcome my personal failings in dark souls
I had to look up a guide for the dragon location. I caved after 10 hours of back tracking. Turns out I just did not look left at the location I was in before. Felt so dumb.
The cat is panic rolling.
Re: discussion at around 37:00.
I think about video games in terms of how much entertainment I’m getting per dollar spent. If a game can give me entertainment indefinitely, GREAT! But I don’t need that every time. Shadow of the Erdtree has given me like 30-40 hours of enjoyment already, that’s like $1 per hour of fun. That’s a steal! And I have like 130 hours on the game total. That’s crazy good value. As far as staying power from the developers side though, I could see some issues with an RTS not having enough complexity to develop an interesting meta
His build is so good!
Day 9, I love your enthusiasm for wishing to be good at games. It's inspirational
the rune eyes on that tree spirit were incredibly awesome
Elden Ring Battle Royale would be pretty cool actually. Probably remove weapon Stat requirements but keep the scaling and not much other changes needed
1:31:31 - Not film, but in television there’s plenty of hyper competent, funny people. Jake from Brooklyn 99 and Jim from The Office come to mind.
At 2:49:30 Day9 says something similar to what Mark Rosewater often says. That there is no greater risk to take in Magic than not taking anymore risks.
Honestly his build is probably the most OP build in the game, people are switching to this build for end game because every other build is too hard lol
where can I get that pink torch?!
Ambush a convoy in the Consecrated Snowfield.
Going superheavy tank with greatshield and spear doesn't mean you're an unskilled gamer, and there's nothing wrong with doing it. It does pretty much invalidate a LOT of content, it's a very easy build to pilot, but that's also strategy: making battles easier is, y'know. A smart thing to do?
Like sure, you COULD insist on only using medics and firebats to kill Protoss...but why would you? That's making the game incredibly hard for no reason other than you apparently decided you have something to prove. Much better idea to build things that will actually. Y'know. Kill things effectively in the matchup.
So yeah, two things can be true at the same time: it can be a very easy way to play Elden Ring, and that can be a completely normal thing to want to do. It doesn't make someone bad, it just means they're not prioritizing showing off how well they can evade attacks over winning the game.
Now the FASHION, on the other hand...
imo, the content that that "skips" isn't actually good. Memorizing a bunch of animations that all have a lock-in-key solution on how to avoid isn't interesting on it's own, especially after playing something like Exanima that has a lot more depth to it's swordplay.
He's not actually missing out on anything cool.
I agree with the other guy. That's not content and the idea of "skipping" it is just gatekeeping. Usually done by people with very high levels of insecurity.
@@La0bouchere Memorizing animations is another way to play, but also not the only alternative to greatshield + spear, and not the only kind of content a tank build basically counters. A less tanky build being surprised by an ambush needs to improvise a solution to not die in the next few seconds; a build like this holds L1 and is fine.
As my comment noted, though: that's a completely valid way to play the game. There's nothing wrong with playing it that way. It doesn't make you "bad." It just is what it is.
Hey Sean. Thanks for all your amazing streams and insightful industry commentary. Recent W2 campaigns were a blast (from the past) 😅 Sorry for the bother!
