I was being sarcastic before. I know who wrote the lyrics. It's a poem written by my late grandfather Denis Lynch of Rathmore. Funny how in Ireland you can make a song and profit from it, without giving credit to it's originator.

Does anyone know who wrote the lyrics? I noticed there are no writing credits for this song...?

Shrone is probably got from the Irish word "shorn" which means nose.

The song was written by the Den Lynch, who was born in Gortacarin, Headford, but later lived across the road from the Church in Rathmore (tehnically Rathbeg). e.g. Rath Mor (The big fort), Rath Beag (the small fort). And while Shrone is only a few miles from the Cork border, it definitely is in County Kerry. Check out Shrone Church....
