Thank you CountryBob. This is the only video of Dad singing that my brother Andrew and I have thanks to you. It’s nice to bring him back every now and again and the Battle of New Orleans was pretty much the epitome of Dad’s repertoire to his idol, Lonnie. I was fortunate to meet Lonnie at the stage door of Derngate. Me and dad left before the end and shot round and he was just coming out as we got there. Dad let me do all the talking because he’d met him lots of times. He just stood smiling behind me as I told Lonnie that I’ve known his music since birth because dad would come home and make us listen to his latest album whether we wanted to or not. I must add he was very nice and polite, friendly and appreciative of his fans. My only OMG moment was when I realised he was so small! Dad was taller than him if you can believe that lol. Anyway, hope you get to read this and know how grateful we are that you uploaded it to RUclips. XxxLove to you and yours from Karen, Pete and our lad Sammy…..and Andrew of course. Happy New Year 🎉

I was being sarcastic before. I know who wrote the lyrics. It's a poem written by my late grandfather Denis Lynch of Rathmore. Funny how in Ireland you can make a song and profit from it, without giving credit to it's originator.

Does anyone know who wrote the lyrics? I noticed there are no writing credits for this song...?
