I find it fascinating that the Japanese are just so good at manufacturing quality products. I think it's a unique set of qualities all coming together in the perfect storm: high IQs, high discipline, honour, value of craftmanship. Interestingly they don't usually invent things (perhaps tied to cultural norms of conformity), but they are the absolute masters of innovating, refining and perfecting.
You are wrong on almost every count. The average IQ in Japan is the same as anywhere. Their attitude to craftsmanship is similar to (eg) Germany, Switzerland, so hardly "unique". The old adage that the Japanese don't invent things is tiresome; please come out of your "stuckness"; and they are no more or less conforming than anywhere else. You wrote: " .... perhaps tied to cultural norms of conformity" ... goodness ! How tied you are to your own cultural interpretation !! What you see are factory workers doing their jobs. They do it well, but that does not make them particularly special. The Japanese do think differently, and that is definitely a cultural idiosyncrasy, and is also connected to their language and customs. And they do make high quality products, but so do other countries. Why don't you come to Japan and see for yourself ? And before you ask, I have lived and still live in Japan, the last 30+ years; I speak and read Japanese, and other languages. Most Japanese speak only Japanese. He was deeply apologetic and bowing, which we thought was completely over the top and unnecessary. Contrast that with a taxi driver in most other countries. To me the whole experience (including the white gloves etc..), was another example of Japanese taking great pride in their trade / craft / service.
We own a Honda Crv 2008, my dad bought it ON 2008, the moment it got released my dad bought and guess what it's still running perfect, we travelled the whole country with it ❤️

I have always loved the Toyota brand and for that it is one of the best car manufacturing companies. I've always dreamed of having a Toyota, it's my dearest dream but, unfortunately, it's a dream that won't come true when you live in a country like Haiti, where cars are considered luxury.
That's amazing how yesterday I was watching the latest episode of 4WD 24/7 on tube where Shauno was talking about his trip to Japan and his excitement of going to this exact facility. Next minute it pops up on my Utube for me to watch. Is that what they call algorithms.
I was a bit surprised to see so many manual processes…and that Toyota has adopted Henry Ford’s old credo, “You can have any color you want…as long as it’s black (or white).”

I ordered the LC300 GRS and waited in line for 2 years, hopefully playing videos at 2x speed can shorten the waiting time in line by 1 year. I want that unit now.😭
I believe this is the Yoshimura factory northeast of Osaka. Very experienced workforce there. I was unaware the LC Prado (Lexus GX in USA) is also manufactured there. Sadly no LC300s in the US yet though we do get the Lexus LX600. Anything coming out of this factory will be superbly built.

I wish I could afford one. I have a 4Runner which is satisfactory. But I rented a Land Cruiser for three weeks to drive around Iceland. Thru rivers and backroads. It was a diesel. Fantastic vehicle. Wish they sold one in the US.
