Production of the first generation of the Land Cruiser began in 1951. The Land Cruiser has been produced in convertible, hardtop, station wagon and cab chassis body styles. The Land Cruiser's reliability and longevity have led to huge popularity, especially in Australia, where it is the best-selling body-on-frame, four-wheel drive vehicle. Toyota also extensively tests the Land Cruiser in the Australian outback - considered to be one of the toughest operating environments in both temperature and terrain. In Japan, the Land Cruiser was once exclusive to Toyota Japanese dealerships called Toyota Store.
As of 2021, the full-size Land Cruiser was available in many markets. Exceptions include the United States (since 2021), Canada (since 1996). Malaysia (which receives the Lexus LX instead), Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, South Korea, Brazil, and most of Europe. In Europe, the only countries where the full-size Land Cruiser is officially sold are Gibraltar, Moldova, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. The Land Cruiser is hugely popular in the Middle East, Russia, and Australia, and also in Africa where it is used by farmers, NGO's, UN and humanitarian organizations, by national armies (often the pickup version) as well as by irregular armed groups who turn them into 'technicals' by mounting machine guns in the rear. In August 2019, Toyota Land Cruiser cumulative global sales surpassed 10 million units.

I have always loved the Toyota brand and for that it is one of the best car manufacturing companies. I've always dreamed of having a Toyota, it's my dearest dream but, unfortunately, it's a dream that won't come true when you live in a country like Haiti, where cars are considered luxury.
Even by Japanese standards, Toyota is special. And even by Toyota standards, Landcruiser is special.

What innovation, what efficiency, what quality. Yes, Japan is one of the best countries that manufacture cars, if not the best.
All this yet there is an issue with chips worldwide and cars are slow in production. I went to the Toyota showroom to book Land Cruiser VXR Full Option 2023 Model and they told me that i have to wait 6-12 months to receive it.
Aside from all that, they also told me i will be receiving the car with only one key instead of two spare keys.
Guy with the spot welder had really bad ergonomics. Would have thought the days of bending like the on a production were over.

I find it fascinating that the Japanese are just so good at manufacturing quality products. I think it's a unique set of qualities all coming together in the perfect storm: high IQs, high discipline, honour, value of craftmanship. Interestingly they don't usually invent things (perhaps tied to cultural norms of conformity), but they are the absolute masters of innovating, refining and perfecting.
You are wrong on almost every count. The average IQ in Japan is the same as anywhere. Their attitude to craftsmanship is similar to (eg) Germany, Switzerland, so hardly "unique". The old adage that the Japanese don't invent things is tiresome; please come out of your "stuckness"; and they are no more or less conforming than anywhere else. You wrote: " .... perhaps tied to cultural norms of conformity" ... goodness ! How tied you are to your own cultural interpretation !! What you see are factory workers doing their jobs. They do it well, but that does not make them particularly special. The Japanese do think differently, and that is definitely a cultural idiosyncrasy, and is also connected to their language and customs. And they do make high quality products, but so do other countries. Why don't you come to Japan and see for yourself ? And before you ask, I have lived and still live in Japan, the last 30+ years; I speak and read Japanese, and other languages. Most Japanese speak only Japanese. This is one of their great limitations. What is your real international experience James H. ?

To give another example - last time I visited Japan a smartly dressed elderly taxi driver with white gloves drove us to the train station, but he took a wrong turn (like one block) and it took us 1 minute and perhaps $1 more to get there. He was deeply apologetic and bowing, which we thought was completely over the top and unnecessary. Contrast that with a taxi driver in most other countries. To me the whole experience (including the white gloves etc..), was another example of Japanese taking great pride in their trade / craft / service.
