I’m so glad I backed the full complete set with both expansion, indeed an awesome game! 🙂

I wish Chronicles of crime would do a Scooby-Doo expansion!

This one was my wife's fav. Mine was a toss up between this and Noir. Some of the stat checks and requiring successes based on the number of characters you have, don't really make sense. It seems if you were trying to convince someone, you would only need one person to to do the talking. Anyway, overall a great game and a cool setting.

It's a gameplay choice : have everyone contribute to the action and not only one throwing the dices.

I dont know the game and I do not want to hate on the game, but it seems strange to me. The base game offered lots of places, characters,... I thought they would create more and more stories for the base game and keep it interesting this way. But now with the two expansions it seems, they look for any small idea (introduce money for bribing, introduce 3 stats for dice checks) and a new setting, so not really much. Why do you build a game system which offers tools for new stories and then not use it, but instead creat it all a second and third time? Wouldnt it be more useful if they use the existing cards from the base game and build more stories with them?

Max Nith They've done both, by adding new scenarios as in-app purchases. Why would you need to buy a box for new scenarios that are just digital content? They sell the expansion boxes to add new experiences, whilst the software DLC expands the base game.

Both these expansions were in the original Kickstarter. I have had both these games for months now. Haven't played them yet though...

You can download more scenarios for the original game (there’s 9 scenarios in total right now including the tutorial) and there will be more coming! And that doesn’t count the expansions! That’s a lot of content for a game that’s just a year old. I could see them putting out 5 or 6 a year for the base game and each of the expansions, keeping the game fresh and playable. Download the app to see what’s all available! And that doesn’t even include the community scenarios and all the possibilities with that! I don’t have Redview yet, but Im playing through the base game and Noir and it really is an excellent system.

Why did they add new effects in Magic The Gathering ? It was working very well with the first edition !

@@TheDronaxis There is nothing wrong with adding new mechanics, but the pace at which new stuff is added is important. Look at good games and the rate they get updates (Dominion yearly, Pandemic versions also release yearly or even slower, Carcasone, Carverna,... ). Look at any good game and most likely it will have a slow cycle. This way there is enough time for real feedback, which allows for better fixes.
Another thing is that expansions extend the base game. There is new stuff for the base game. As far as I know, there is no connection between the different versions of Chronicals of Crime. There is no way to play the base game with money or characters,....
To me this is a bad decision, because you have different versions of the same game, which causes more planning, maintenance. To me this does not sound like a long sustaining game and more cash oriented. There is nothing wrong with it and I think the pricing is ok, but for me it is a no go.

I did rope my 13-yr old in with this expansion, being such a Stranger Things fan (meanwhile I get to play Noir by myself on dark nights)

Wouldn't it be amazing if they get the actual license for Scooby-Doo or Carmen San Diego 😯
