- Went from 48 idf's with 36 vents to 48 ida's with 37 vents. Not everyone can afford a $1,500 set of carbs, so i figured i would try a set of these $675 set. I think i can speak for many others, that so many out there that own these old vw's will live their whole life, and never afford a $1500 set of carburetors. If you want a set straight from the source, email Shirley at shirley2628@163.com as this is where I get all of my over seas carbs. She works directly at the factory, and good people. Great character, always follows through. Cut out the middleman and go straight to the source.

Dude I've had my 1959 VW bug since high school im now 57 years old and ive always wanted a set of 48IDA'S. I finally got the money up and went and bought a new set of webber's the real ones not the Chinese ones and had them powder coated black all for $2500. It's alot of money but OMG I cant believe how badass they are. No regrets

Siri your car is far from a pile it is RUclips royalty I remember watching your video it had to be eight or nine years ago I had Got out of the Volkswagen thing even though I grew up in it when I saw your video it reminded me of my old street car . And it made me want to build motors again I think your videos are great you should just make more of them LOL

I bought three pairs of cologne 48 IDs and they were 190 bucks each what a deal they work exactly like Weber 48 switch I also have a setup and all the parts are interchangeable with Weber what a deal

IDAs are the way to go. But like you said it is pricey.
Do you always run w/o air cleaners?

Believe those are Chinese, you can get them at Walmart.com, amazon, or eBay. They work pretty good, you just have to check the jets, they tend to sometimes be off and not the right size.

what brand is this IDA ? Am on budget on my 1915cc engine !! hows the quality on the carbs ?
no brand name at all. There are only 2 factories that produce the weber copies, but there can be varying degrees of quality. I ordered direct from the company in Taizhou China, but they were $675 at that time. now they are down to $400, so hopefully the quality remains the same. The ebay sellers feedback is good enuff that they will replace any as needed. I would order from ebay seller "Parts_links" within the USA, or from "xhautopartsshop" if outside the USA
@@jpaull thanks a million for your help your videos are inspiring plus practical with a lot of info specially Bulding for first time and being over seas where there is no info or parts or mechanics for vw performance engines I need to ship my parts from the states and it’s not easy to return if it’s a wrong part

them are IDAs not idfs
Correct, as the title states they are ida style carbs. In the video i compare them to my IDFs that I had been running before, but I never refered to these as idf's.
