    Thanks again Terry. Drilling the stock cranks aren't too bad. Drilling a forged crank like a K1 or other aftermarket can be quite a different story. I found that using a carbide tipped masonry bit that is a size smaller than your pin, then finishing with a high quality metal bit on slow speed, works best. You could just buy a full carbide metal bit but they are crazy expensive and easy to break. This is a low buck solution that I found works well. Just thought I would share. Thanks and keep the video's coming brother.

    So you're placing a pin in the keyway once drilled to brace the pulley and drilling another hole to make sure the pulley stays secure in position to the crank? These pulley's aren't just serpentine pulley's, they're actual harmonic dampers (acoustic resonance). Have you thought of installing a Fluidyne Pulley?

  • @themrjones
    @themrjones 5 лет назад

    Hey stupid question, I'm sure you've already done one of these but do you have the oil pan baffle or relocation pickup tube. And second have you ported the headlight, there is allot of material that needs to be removed and it's easy to do. Once I ported the left headlight I noticed more low end torque and it runs smoother. I did it in five minutes the car drives like I got a new cold sir intake. Also I had the k&n and had to cut the front part of the thing that blocked all the cold air from coming in. Your videos give me inspiration.

    What would be the easiest way to reinstall and align an already pinned balancer on pinned crank. (Serviced your engine, but now reinstalling)

    • @Coverman66
      @Coverman66  3 года назад +2

      try lining up the crank, put the pin in while the pulley it somewhat on the crank. tighten it down and the balancer should align itself to the pin and crank.. keep me posted..

  • @philipkeds328
    @philipkeds328 5 лет назад

    Sweet vid! Question though: Why don't you use the ATI pinning kit? The kit pins it on the top. If you are using a crank pulley with a keyway, you can simply slide it over. That way if you ever have to replace the crank pulley, it's much easier and no need for re pinning.

    • @Coverman66
      @Coverman66  3 года назад +1

      whats good brotha Brian.. when you bolt the tool to the pulley, it will holds tight for you to drill the holes. hope this helps..

    Terry- the round silver thing supplied in the crank pinning kit would be called an index tool/drill guide plate or something similar. For an extra measure of safety you could coat the pins with a Loctite sealant made for bearings (product number 641). www.amazon.com/LOCTITE-BEARING-RETAINER-Sealant-Retainer/dp/B01MQJ92VM
