If I might be permitted make one suggestion: The Sound of Silence is fine put the sounds of the actual work being done is an absolute blessing watching these videos.
I agree the music makes me want to paddle faster.

As beautiful as the finished product is. I couldn't justify the cost. The inflatable ones are pretty good and cheaper. You have some great skills to be able to create that beautiful bored. But I'd just make a mess. Fantastic to watch though. More videos please

Great video Arron! I built a 13' square back canoe once out of birch ply and glass and hooked my 2hp Honda four stroke too it and down the river I went!
I'm going to use you and your video for my paddle board! We think the same in these regards!

@@Aaron.deRuiter my 17' Coleman canoe (sloppy hull...) with my Garmin said I did 7mph on the Mississippi River. Didn't have my Garmin (couldn't find it) with my little square back but I'd say it would probably do 9mph.
Read in a blog that a guy made a homemade 8' hydroplane boat, and put a 25hp on it! He said it would go 70mph!! Lol That would be exhilarating!

I felt a deep nostalgia seeing the stingray swimming next to your board at the end of the video on this rocky beach... This sand... I'm a little old for that, but I really like stand up paddle.

Yes! HAND PLANE your scarf joints! Works great and is dead easy. As I'm sure you know, this board design is quite similar to the Tom Blake "kook box" boards that many surfers made back in the 50's.
Yeah, I’ve seen those boxy type boards from the 50’s. They were double the weight of mine as they used solid timber for the hull sides and 6mm plywood top and bottom 🤙

Nice. I've been looking at doing this, but have been approaching from building the ribs, then assembling. I like the idea of cutting the ribs to fit the shape after the fact.
It’s not as exact as using pre measured and cut frames but for a home built sup it does the job perfectly.

I've watched a few people build things like on RUclips and I never really see details about the plywood people buy. I word of caution is probably in order for these is to buy marine grade plywood. The adhesive used to make marine grade plywood is not susceptible to moisture like ordinary plywood is. I get that people are sealing the plywood with various substances to protect it but the problem comes in when temperature changes and humidity come into play. Slowing ordinary plywood comes apart when marine grade plywood will not. If you're going to go to all the trouble of making something like this use the right plywood and it could be something you had down to your children even with lots of use. I do appreciate you showing us how you made yours and it does look great.
Thanks for watching Curly! I appreciate your points about marine plywood and if I was building a bigger boat that lives in the water it would definitely be build out of the right ply. But I'm comfortable in the plywood I've used as the sup gets stored inside when not in use and is fulled coated and sealed in epoxy. Cheers for the comment!
@@Aaron.deRuiter There is something to be said for not using marine ply.. Whilst it is the best choice it may be the difference between getting out on the water or not. I have just been going through the same dilemma. I have had a wooden dinghy on hold for a long while waiting to afford the marine ply. Finally I figure it is better to repair it with non marine and get it on the water to enjoy before the grandchildren grow up. There is no reason why it can't be a rolling restoration with proper ply as and when. A further note, a local sea fisherman showed me his tender this morning, we had this conversation. He took great delight in pointing out the use of exterior ply and exterior paint, nothing fancy, but regular maintenance keeps the tender going for decades!
