This was fascinating. One thing that so many forget when they talk about science is that it must be observable and it must be repeatable. Darwin failed on both counts. He talked about bird beaks as his theory for evolution. The problem is, the birds did not change into another species, they simply adapted a part of their own body. Failure on "observable". And we have never seen a species change into a completely and totally different species. Failure on "repeatable". As well, people forget that "theory" does not mean "fact".
The fun fact is that Darwin finches have no role in Darwins book. And you don´t understand that "theory" means in the scientific world. Darwins theory is based on observation and as all historical sciences it is not repeatable.
But go ahead: Prove that Jesus has risen from the dead by repeating the experiment.

Yes. I think what makes the joke so great is that anyone who has ever tried Grape Nuts has had the same thought but just never said it, so we can easily relate and chuckle.
Biggest joke is him trying to squeeze a spherical, moving earth out of the Scriptures that very clearly, in hundreds of places, describes earth as the stationary plane, set on pillars, under the solid expanse above called the firmament that the lights above are set in.

Around the 35:00 mark the reference to the "lightning for the rain" comes with a certain subtlety: As analysis shows us, Earth's atmosphere is made mostly of an inert gas - nitrogen. Nitrogen is also a primary element in plant fertilizer in the soil.
The action of static electricity in clouds imbues the condensing water with atmospheric nitrogen - and this happens regardless of the weather system producing a thunderstorm or not. Ever notice that fresh rainwater from the sky is better than synthetic irrigation from tap water? Yes both hydrate the soil, but fresh rainwater from the sky has a little more nitrogen suspended in it, and plants JUST LOVE THAT STUFF. Ain't our Lord a GENIUS?

Hmmm interesting. I would have to read a bit before and after this verse and maybe even look up several commentaries for it. Without knowing who the people are he's referring to its difficult to say, but initially I would consider if this is coming from Moses' perspective on what God did that seemed evil to Moses or was it something done to the people we can definitely say fits the definition of evil

I am wary of anyone who insists on a 6000 year old earth and a seven day creation as a primary Christian belief. It's not required for salvation. It never was. It never will be. Like the belief in a flat earth, it was never a part of classical biblical doctrine. Not that belief in same is a disqualifier for salvation either. It's just that when you talk to someone who is a scientist and you dismiss them on the basis of so called "biblical truth" you make it impossible for them to hear you. You fail to communicate the actual truth, the one that actually matters, the Gospel of Salvation.

Genesis PLAINLY says "Genesis 1:16“ And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.” Now...how are you going to say that the moon isn't its own light....there ya are going by that "science" that your saying is false. I am a newly reformed Christian, but I cannot bring myself to believe in a 6 day 24 hour period creation. The physical evidence to suggest otherwise is simply insurmountable.

No, but we have evidence
While the Bible is the Word of God, it's also something presented to man through people living in a time in history, and those people had worldviews and understandings about the universe that did not align with facts that later were discovered. There's nothing to be feared or denied about that.
And thus, we have statements in Scripture that reflect the understanding of those very people--yes, the "inspired of God" people--as it relates to the natural world that existed before the scientific age began: The sky is laid out like a hard dome, children are in the loins of their fathers, emotions are sourced in the kidneys and intestines, the Earth was set on a foundation with a cornerstone, the "whole world" (Rom 1:8) was limited to the nations around the Mediterranean Sea, etc.
That was their world, and God didn't update their knowledge so as to be "accurate." It was "accurate" enough for the purpose at hand. We don't need to make the Bible be something it wasn't supposed to be--a scientific text.
“The sky is laid out like a hard dome.” Clearly talking about the upper atmosphere. “Children are in the loins of their fathers.” Fathers sperm determines biological sex of children. “Emotions are sourced in the kidneys and intestines.” Have you ever said “I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach”? Clearly that last one is a figure of speech.
@@SDRBass We make the mistake of attributing these verses to common "expressions" or idioms because we, in the modern world, do the same and we understand those phrases as such. But the ancients didn't see them that way; they were serious. They didn't know anything about the human brain, that our emotions are rooted there. There's not even a biblical Hebrew term for "brain." They thought our emotions came from where they're felt--in our gut. It would be centuries before they'd know otherwise. But the Bible was written long before that came to be known.
Yes, sex is determined by the father, but the complete person--someone unique and identifiable--is derived from both parents. Again, the ancients didn't know the mother contributed anything but her womb. We know better now.
OK, the "upper atmosphere" was seen as "a hard dome" Doesn't matter--we know it's not a hard dome. But they didn't. They believed the stars were attached to a hard surface. That's OK--doesn't make the Bible "wrong" any more than a child saying God created his baby sister when it was "really" his parents. Both ideas are right. The point is we can't fault the Bible for being pre-scientific. It was written when it was written by whom it was written. God made those choices.
Jack Webb if you’re actually claiming that ancient Hebrews didn’t use idioms or analogies to describe complex issues like we do today, that’s just false dude. We’re supposed to rightly divide the word. Some expressions in Scripture are clearly idioms that need to be understood as such and ignoring that will get you some seriously messed up theology.

But the examples in question--emotions, the sky, genetics--weren't among them. The biblical authors had no idea, when Christ said to "go into all the world" with the Gospel, that other land masses existed in far-flung corners of the Earth. Their cosmology was pre-scientific, as was everything else.
So yes, they used idioms. But when God asked Job where he was when He laid the "foundation" of the Earth, or referred to the "pillars" on which it was sunk, He was using language that accorded with what humankind--at that time--believed was true of the world they lived in. They had no idea the Earth was round, or that it was just the third stone from the sun. Civilization wouldn't learn otherwise for many centuries later. Even into the Middle Ages, the church was persecuting those who suggested we weren't the center of the solar system.
The point is, we don't have to defend the Bible's use of "unscientific" language. It doesn't use it because the original writers--inspired though they were--wouldn't have grasped many of the real facts about nature. In fact, if the Bible were being written today, God still couldn't tell us "how He did it" because it's still probably way over our heads. Instead, He gave the writers what they needed to convey the message He wanted conveyed. He wasn't explaining the secrets of biology or cosmology. We can rest in that; it doesn't detract from the Bible's authority at all.

God also mentions that He measured out the universe to exact specifications. The cornerstone and pillars and foundation are analogous to a building a being built.
As far as them believing the earth was flat, did you watch the full sermon? The Bible literally says that the earth is a circle or “compassed.”
The "science" of which MacArthur quotes here is fatally flawed, but he doesn't know it! Nevertheless, the Biblical account as it is given in Scripture is totally accurate.

I do appreciate the information from scripture John preaches but when he preaches universe it is not what the bible teaches. Think on this: H2O is water now separate the hydrogen from the oxygen into their own properties, it takes oxygen for fire and hydrogen is a volatile gas the heavens are saturated with. Now , where do you think the lake of fire is situated?
