- Weeks in darkness. A freezing inferno. Some thrive, others slowly lose their minds. That is the Arctic town of Kirkenes, Norway. One of the coldest places in Europe. Join me to the tourist attraction of Kirkenes, Arctic Norway.
It’s nice to see the other side of the worlds 😍👍
Greeting from Bali-Indonesia 🇮🇩
Hi there, thanks!
You know what? This is what i mean when i say breathtaking.. peaceful, months of darkness, cozy, beautiful lightings…
Hello from England.Thank you for your amazing video's,
Hi there, thanks a lot!
Beautiful photography. Thanks for taking us there.
Thank you for this video, it was very interesting! Greetings from Sweden :)
Thanks, I look forward to go to Sweden in the future for SURE!
@@sandvenexplorer You're welcome! You are most welcome :) there are many cosy cities etc in my part of Sweden!
Visited the town in 1972 and 73. When the mining operation was running. Enjoyed my brief stays there, but it was the summer months. Yes the winters look hard but the population are accustomed to it. I wouldn't mind another trip up there. Also used to visit Narvik, enjoyed that as well. Nice video.
Narvik is very interesting. Would definitely want to go there again. VERY nice scenery and interesting history as well..
I lived there for the winter season about 5 years ago. I worked at the Snow Hotel as a Dog Musher. I adopted a Husky whilst there and had to drive my VW Polo from Sussex in England to Kirkenes and back to get the dog to England as you could not fly dogs from Norway to the UK. Something I was unaware of at the time. That's the same distance and driving from Holland to India. The dog has now racked up 22 countries on his travels having started his life on the end of a two metre chain.
Long drive for sure!
Thanks for posting.
Happy New Year! This place looks so beautiful! Be safe out there!
Hi there, thanks, a happy new year to you as well!
i would love to live in a town like this, it just seems so calming
Have you ever lived anywhere above the Arctic Circle ?
@@tariqkhader6196 nope, i live in nova scotia canada
@@latte785 I'd advise a short trial period first. Living above the Arctic Circle during the dark months negatively impacts your psyche.
Thank you for the video! I went to Kierkenes a few years ago. Stayed at the Snow Hotel. It was beautiful!!
Thanks, made a video about that place too!
Thanks for the vid
Interesting to finally see how it looks
Beautiful good place to visit ,but living there must be hard. Man u guys are tough👍
It's MUCH brighter than real nighttime
Hi from Scotland great video!
nice to see you with a great vedio amazing i like it
Hey, thanks!!
0:17 What an amazing moon with this landscape !
Only Van Gogh would probably be able to reproduce în paint the deep shade of this yellow.
haha, thanks, yes it was a nice scene...
It doesn't seem that gloomy to me!
Interesting. Thanks from Scotland. 👍😀
I heard it is the northernmost Chinatown! I would LOVE to go there one day especially in the summer to escape the heat and enjoy the midnight sun and/or spring break to see the northern lights at night and the extra daylight but nice cold weather and I am Chinese
Cool, plenty of videos from northern Norway on my channel so you MIGHT find more places up there to visit, thanks for watching!
Nice little city. I have been there twice - once in i military errand, and one time as an industrial worker, putting in new lining in a melting oven.
The more content you put out (That's honest and actuate) The more eye's you open. Just in two videos I've seen, I've noticed you share what you observe, and may have more too say but don't. Looks like great skiing! Last few years some California resorts were open on the 4th of July. Earlier & later, with new cold and snow total records. I think you know. When the Ocean is not enough to regulate Norway, you'll need "Dugnad" from everyone to get threw it. -.6F average for years now, and -.2 was the yearly average. But it's warmer right. The summer's are longer as they claim. Everything that is warm will become colder, not hotter. More snow coming, when it should be rain. I hope summer comes soon for you. Stay warm and safe.
Hi there, thanks for watching and commenting on this stuff! Take care over there!
@@sandvenexplorer By the way, you know you have two major accomplishments to be proud of. Angelina Jordan and You ran Antifa out of your country! The rest of the world should take notes on how you got rid of Antifa! Smart people. I worry about this cold cycle. I have a feeling based on cycles, this may be like the Maunder minimum. Global lying or stealing, has left us unprepared for farming in the cold! We are having seed shortages this year, and no one knows.
Have no fear Sandven Explorer is here, It's been very long, by the way great video. Loved the opening shot of the moon.
haha, thanks! We rarely see it though cause of that cloud cover...
@@sandvenexplorer Hope you have great year ahead.
@@vaibhavkarol_ Same to you!
Awesome film Chris, very slick.
Thanks Dougie, and every day now it gets lighter. The sun will be back January 16, but behind mountains and clouds normally, but I expect quite a bit of sun in February and will try to visit some interesting places when the weather permits..
@@sandvenexplorer I shall await your latest film with baited breath my friend.
The moon looks so big and beautiful. Is this the town you live in? It's good to see a video from you again. Thank you
Yeah, I live close by! Thanks!
Hello from Kirkenes
I was many times in Kirkenes ( winter time too) .
Eh theres alot of ppl out in the summer, so wrong there. The mine is closed because of a missed plan about how to get Iron out (open or underground) mine. Money ran out under a stupid aministration. And the city is dead after 16:00 when small shops close for the day.
Nice
Hello from Brazil 🇧🇷
Hi there, might go there one day for SURE. Warm temps...
do you have block heaters for your cars there ?
Yes for sure most people
Norway does not force anyone to stay in the country; instead of bitching about it, they can simply LEAVE!
You took pics of the Moon, over Kirkenes; any video clips of the Aurora Borealis?
Hi, check out one of my latest videos....."what is going on outside my cabin at night"...
How did Norway manage to keep all that land on the artic ocean away from Sweden and Finland?
Viking power...
This town is not affected by the climate change.
Would be hard for a human that lives max 100 years to notice such small changes anyway i would say...
Hey how plant carry photosynthesis during this period of night??Can you tell me plzz
This place is like a freezer, no plants grow, no photosynthesis going on..
@@sandvenexplorer how people survive there??
@@fasseh2214 They eat reindeer, fish, whales etc
@@sandvenexplorer no no, means without oxygen?
@@fasseh2214 POWERFUL winds bring the oxygen from other parts of the world to this freezing inferno..
Kick = Spark
why don't you have gloves????
have there any climate changes??
Getting colder every day this winter it seems!!
i want to go norway how can i go after the unveil border opening
