I do get frustrated with my dog quite a lot. He’s from a shelter and is nervous and scared of a lot of things, and takes to barking and nipping people to get out of those situations. He’s gaining much more confidence now, but it’s definitely baby steps.
Hey Joey - @1:25 I noticed you picking up Frankie’s toys - we taught our Aussie Doodle to put her toys away and she does it with simple commands (” put your toy in the box”)! Great mind challenge and less work for us too! 😁
The reason I watch your videos is because I wanna learn about dogs and how to care for them. I don't want to get an Aussie but a bigger dog, probably a german sheperd. I wanna see if I can handle raising a puppy and how many sacrifices would I have to do for this. Also, Frankie is unbelievably cute and he's very happy with you.
Thank you!! One of the biggest reasons I had such a hard time raising my German Shepherd puppy is simply because I thought I was doing a terrible job. Honestly, honestly, if I had just relaxed and realised puppies are puppies, we would be where we are NOW, back then. So yes, you're not a bad dog parent, so important!!
Hey Joey, hey Frankie, I got my mini aussie puppy 4 weeks ago. He looks like Frankie and your videos helped me with the decision to get him. I always wanted an aussie and now my dream became true! I will watch all your videos while teaching him and helping him to grow up. Greetings from germany😇
One of the main things I love you you and Frankie is that I can tell you do silly things even off cam like “You. Talking to me?!” You guys make me so happy every time you post, and this particular video was once again perfect timing. My girl and I had a rough day with listening around other dogs yesterday. (EDIT: and I felt like a terrible dog mom.)
My Aussie has become a princess about not getting her paws wet in the morning too. Then her 4 month old German Shepard sister runs out there like a mad dog and then she typically gets over it so she can chase her around the yard. Your videos have taught me a lot when it comes to owning an Aushole over that last year however (since she's only 1 year old all the training stuff has been great) so keep up the good work! The Frankie barking bits sent her into crazo mode both times though lol
Great way to help Frankie out of your Jeep! His joints are going to love you in the future. You ARE a good dog parent! Frankie does great with you...he is a dog and you let him be a dog. He is always looking at you for direction...this is good...this is what a good dog does. The only commands that one must absolutely insist upon for perfection, are those that can save Frankie's life (i.e., halt, sit, stay, leave it, come). Don't worry about the rest. Don't get frustrated. Let Frankie and yourself enjoy each other, and life with each other. The rest will work itself out. I enjoy your videos! P.S. Looking forward to your video with Frankie and running water. My boy loves running water!
I loved this. I have had moments where I was so frustrated with my puppy not listening I was crying, she is getting older (15 months) and she listens better now, but I haven’t definitely felt that frustration
I totally get that he loves running water. We have water fountains that our dog loves. Also little tip: Avoid giving water from the hose as the hose itself leaks chemicals into the water, and the brass piece at the end is not safe to have water flow through for consumption.
Hey man! Interesting timing on the thunderstorm thing. I was just doing some research on that yesterday. Apparently, it has something to do with static electricity in the air and their coats. The fact she goes ok in the basement will be because of the concrete absorbing it to a degree.
1. How come Frankie is so clean all the time? 2. Buddy refuses to walk onto the wet grass in the morning and sometimes I have to walk her hours until she finds dry grass to do her business; 3. Buddy has that same water bottle but she doesn't like drinking from it, but she drinks from the gulpy. 4. Frankie looks like dumbo and so adorable when wind blew his ears up :D Such a lucky dog/pawent that you got each other!
Our dog is the same way about water. We got him a water fountain for outside on the porch. Took him about 2 demonstrations before he had it figured out.
Love this video so much! I forget that Frankie is a mini Aussie, he just looks full grown. But he reminds me of my Josie girl. ESP. When you say “high maintenance “, “running water”, days of frustration yes. But they are so loving. And I really like the new water bottle. Going to get her one.
I've seen cats actually tiptoe on dewwet lawn. Although I did notice that our old family dogs were faster with their business than when the lawn was dry.
Our Aussie Dolcezza does the same thing after rain. Not wanting to get her paws wet. But it’s funny cause we get hundreds (!!) of inches of snow in the winter and she has no issue wanting to pee on the snow and usually gets upset when the snow melts and has no where to pee. I think she’s messing with me. 🤪😉👍🏼
Hi Frankie and joey just wanted to say thanks for all your helpful videos I am getting my mini aussie in 2 days! I am so excited to watch your videos with him 🐶😁
Great video this week. Thank you for mentioning to leash your dog when you are leaving and arriving at the dog park. So many people don't and I am terrified of accidentally running over someone's dog. I was wondering how often you clip Frankie's nails and do you do it yourself or take him to get them done? Frankie is so cute. I wait all week for a new Frankie video. His barking got my dogs singing the song of their peoples.
I love my mini Aussie Tyler, he kicks as super smart kind and loving. Keep up the good Joey and Frankie! I hope Indie survived the night nothing like terror from thunderstorms.
Aussies aren't among the most shedding breeds, but since they have long hair you'll notice it around the house. Tips: - Optional: Maybe consider a poodle mix. Those still shed, sometimes a lot, but most of the times less than their non-poodle parent. I have a Duck Tolling Retriever and Poodle mix, which resulted in a super high energy dog who doesn't trigger allergies and shed as much as most other dogs. - What one should do anyway: Regularly brush with all the different kinds of brushes. Iirc aussies have an undercoat so one type of brush won't fully de-shed it. Also brush daily around shedding seasons - Lifesaver: Get a roomba. Having a roomba running once a day through your whole apartment/house is worth gold. I can't stress the amount of hair it collects, and I have to spend zero effort into it. Hope that helps!
@@Thomas-eo3dy thanks for the advice roomba and some house tools should do it and fresh it up a little, by the way im not a fan of poodles,Labradoodle or Goldendoodle, im more of a german sheppered, aussie or huskys L), Thanks for the tip about the roomba good idea

Oh man, my girl Allie is a 6 month old Aussie and no, she doesn't like going out in the dew in the morning or even at night when it's raining. Does she play in water? Of course. Does she like getting her feet wet when she has to pee? NO. She better get used to it; her first snow is coming, lol
We have a total covid puppy... His first and only time to stay home alone was when we went for our first shots. Came home to a peepee after 2 months since the last accident. He is not ready for real life yet!

Question! Why don’t you put Frankie in the trunk I’m your jeep? I do think you can still seatbelt him from the trunk or a crate in the trunk…just curious because I have a Jeep Wrangler too! 👌🏼

I've got a 3m/o collie that will not stop even after hours at the park. I have to put him in his crate for him to chill. Do you have any ideas on how to change this behavior?
You didn't ask me, but I'll jump in here. A 3m/o Collie is the epitome of uncontrolled energy. There is nothing wrong with putting your pup in the crate to get him to chill. Just make sure that going into the crate is a positive experience (positive voice, treats, etc.) and never a punishment. This practice can carry into adulthood for the dog. Also, establish a daily routine which your pup can become accustomed to and will learn your expectations...it works for hyperactive kids and it works for hyperactive puppies as well.
