Nice to see Pat Jennings still playing for Spurs even after he had moved to Arsenal :-)

2 teams which dominated the FA cup between 1978 and 1982, Arsenal getting to 3 finals 78, 79, 80 and winning once in 1979, Spurs won it in 81 and 82. The 1983 Final between Brighton & Man Utd was the 1st final since 1977 not to have Arsenal or Spurs in the Final (Spurs lost in the 5th round that year, Arsenal in the semi-final to Man Utd)

Incredible that those three open sides held more between them than the whole lane did in its last incarnation

@paul smith but mainly because the Taylor report required all 1st division and second division clubs to go all seater. That’s what reduced the capacity.

Pat Jennings injured his groin in this match and missed the rest of the season.
fortunately he recovered just in time to play for Northern Ireland in the 1982 WC.
George Wood took over as no 1 for the entire 1982.

Hannibal Barca the way Pat came out to challenge Garth Crooks was so unusual. Pat was as cool as Bobby Moore in his position.

duckjive1 Pat came back in 1983 and became no 1 until early 1985 when Don Howe gave the spot to John Lukic.

duckjive1 George Wood was a good keeper but when John Lukic came to Arsenal from Leeds in 1983 he left for Crystal Palace.

Hannibal Barca i read that Pat said it was harder to train the older he was. but to say he was past his best is a bit over. he did better than Ray Clemence. a regular for Northern Ireland until 1986.

You know of any matches where they show Bill Nicholson in the dugout? They don't seem to be doing much of that even by the 80s.

Arsenal literally were just plodders in these days, indeed before Wenger became there manager Tottenham were always the Glamour team in North London.

George Graham brought in a lot of the Academy boys ..And then Wenger&$$$ made all of the difference!
.But that's the way football is these dayz..
.if a team can survive in the EPL(pi/up all of that Cash)and then entice some Mega Billionaire or consortium to invest, then they will start to climb the League .Look at Leicester!
