  • Ryan Cavanaugh plays a beautiful version of the classic tune "My Favorite Things" from the musical The Sound Of Music but more inspired by the John Coltrane version of this tune. The banjo Ryan is playing is the Deering White Lotus. This banjo produces a clear, bright, and rich tone but is very light in weight due to the fact that it doesn't have a heavy bronze tone ring or one-piece zinc flange. Instead, it is made from all white oak wood which sounds terrific on its own.

Mind blown. The 'white lotus' has a mellow sound for jazz.

Just wonderful! Love the sound. Another reason I love banjo is the versatility of sounds you can make. And also the white oak banjo sounds fantastic deering!

I seriously considered ordering a plectrum version of the White Lotus; decided on a Deco Goodtime version instead (and I am so happy about that 😊). But there’s always N+1 down the line. There’s just a wonderful warmth from these white oak instruments that is really appealing. That said, I think tonal warmth is a Deering characteristic up and down the line (which is why I have two Goodtimes and soon three).
